Agreed. This is pointless. Just another crappy messaging app to throw in with Whatsapp and god knows how many. All my friends are on SMS. Most on iMessage. These work because everyone can be contacted that way.
Google+? I seriously know 3 people who use it, and only because they have a deep-seated personal vendetta against Facebook.
The thing is that most countries don’t have unlimited texting plans (Korea for example, where KakaoTalk was pretty much the first messaging app). I still personally don’t see the advantage in America where data is expensive but texting is dirt cheap.
