They think that the whole album’s disco!

…There are both natural vocals and vocoded vocals. It’s great when people miss the obvious and focus compulsively on one aspect.

One listen was all that it took for me. I’m sure that there are plenty with too narrow a capacity to “get” it immediately.

I was too busy appreciating the subtle panning to be annoyed by the hook.

House is probably the most accurate blanket term, except that they’re digging into funk now.

I wouldn’t even call the “disco” tracks as such—they’re funk. Spacious, summery funk. Anybody who can’t appreciate that is seriously broken.

It also helps that they’re actually creative and aren’t afraid to borrow tropes, in order to craft their own distinct style.

Oh my god! Actual instruments and the development of one’s style! There’s no hope for this duo now!
There are enough tracks in the album to provide a danceable experience. They’re the ones which will be played at clubs and house parties, while also being isolated in the playlists of those with short attention spans and no appreciation of a prolonged experience.
The rest of us will enjoy the diversity of the album, time and time again. Seriously, I hope that the dissenters at least understand the quality of the overall product. The placement of each track makes for very good pacing.

It’s a matter of authenticity versus a homage. ‘RAM’ feels a lot more like it’s exploring the creativity of funk and electronic music, while also making use of diverse instrumentation. It’s a music practitioner’s wet dream and it helps that the mixing of everything, whether synthesised or acoustic, is spot-on.
I’ve never listened through all of ‘Fancy Footwork,’ but I feel that RAM sets the bar in a lot of criteria. It’s doing a lot with established tropes, which only serves to inspire me.

Actually, Beiber is a real musician. He did pub gigs with an acoustic guitar and could clearly play and sing when he was fourteen. He was corrupted by commerce. A cacophony of commodity.
Plus, Ms. Swift sings about nothing but ex-boyfriends, or so it seems. I tire of that crap pretty quickly.

Plus, virtual keyboards make it impossible to rest one’s thumbs on the keys. For those who like to touch-type and use the home row to orient their digits, this is kind of important. Of course, there’s the simple ergonomic benefit of not having to claw one’s hands around the screen’s edges while they pause to think of what to type next.

Of course, consumer-grade lasers aren’t yet that powerful, but this looks like a very fun toy nevertheless. At least people wouldn’t be running around and slicing everything into charred lumps.

I appreciate that this notebook seems to be hampered by the same problems as the Surface, but why harp on about it being “not exciting?” The design is clearly functional and refined, so it’s an odd criticism to level when Macbooks are also functional and refined—not to mention, big, “not exciting” slabs of grey, with sharper displays. “Style” is a very contestable thing to put into a review.
I do wish that manufacturers would use slightly sharper displays, but it sounds like the display in this has no real issues. If the 11S ends up resembling this, with good battery life and the same solidness of this, then I may finally a viable portable computer. Please, Lenovo, build on a good blueprint.
