Well check out Papyrus Beta, Infinite Painter, ezpdf, Sketchbook Mobile or the new version of S Memo in ICS. The best for pen performance is Papyrus although it’s a one-man app and very few people have downloaded it yet. Having bought a Note in January, I can tell you that there were basically zero apps with palm rejection or pressure detection, and just by getting the two biggest PDF apps (ezpdf and Adobe) and the biggest drawing, it’s getting somewhere.
Pen software in Android is still embryonic, yes. They’re just scratching the surface. I’m waiting for somebody, to crack handwriting recognition and implement it in a way that actually makes sense (Swiftkey has already said they’re preparing a pen version of their keyboard). But go to the review section of Sketchbook you’ll see that the Note accounts for more reviews than any other device, by far. There is a market for pens.
And if you get a Note don’t go to S-Choice, their “selection” sucks for the most part, just like Samsung Apps itself. Almost every good app will always be available through Google Play as usual.
