I was just thinking, “How long before this is announced in the USA?” I have a friend who has a smartphone and is tired of it and wants to go back to a dumbphone. I’m talking her into a T-Mobile Lumia 521. That’s about as dumbphone as you’ll get in the smartphone arena. Easy to use, and reasonably priced. I’m not implying Windows phone 8 is a dumbphone OS.
Actually, looking at the front which so many people insist was inspired by the back of an iPhone 5 it actually looks more like an evolved EVO 4G LTE front to me. Look at the design of the metal above the screens, they are similar shaped. They simply just mirrored that design to the bottom now. From the back it’s very reminiscent of the normal curved HTC backs on phones like the HD7. The only place I could see any inspiration is from the silver aluminum chassis. But then again HTC has used metals in it’s phone bodies for years, but not really in full body aluminum.
Same thing with people saying the LG Optimus G copied Apple’s glass back designs. If you look at the Prada series of phones you can see an obvious family lineage. Then if you think about it you’ll notice that the Prada series predates the iPhone. And it was actually Apple who copied LG. The design of the Optimus G is a natural evolution of the Prada phones.
Yawn… Sounds like he’s making excuses to me just like Jobs used to do. You can have your tiny accurate screen. Large screen size with vibrant colors even if off is more important than precise color accuracy but too small to be productive on. But to each his own.
