How did they quickly correct the bricked PS3’s exactly? I must have missed that part.

No, my point is perfectly valid since a game update on the Xbox 360 takes about 5- 10 seconds before the game starts. The PS3 downloads hundreds or thousands of megabytes, sometimes a few times over, before the game loads.
Having all this happen every night is only necessary because of their inefficiency and a waste of bandwidth as well. And don’t get me started on the necessity of PS+ on the PS3 to get said “automatic updates”. I don’t play the PS3 that often and when I do, there are several hundred megabytes to download in 4 stages. That is brutal.
And people complain about how the Xbox One’s check-ins will affect their bandwidth cap lol.

You can play Xbox One games just fine offline….but the time limit is set to 23 hours and 59 minutes. ;)

lol, true enough.
But I have had my PS3 replaced twice for YLOD and a dead blu-ray drive….and I hardly use the thing! This was the somewhat problematic 40GB edition, but still.

Well sadly, that’s where the future is headed. I’m betting Sony’s digital distribution DRM on the PS4 will not be nearly as flexible with sharing and giving.

And here is the butthurt PS fan feeling a bit of rain on his PS4 parade route and accusing this completely mundane article of “sensationalism”. So bricked systems are a minor misstep now? lol
Very reasonable indeed.

Software checks are not the same as online check-ins. But hey, it’s the Xbox One. Might as well make up a few more fears for hate train.
Have you seen game/system updates on the Xbox 360 vs the PS3? If there is one thing Microsoft has experience with; it’s software updates.

I tried to read this over a few times to find any sensationalism in this article and failed.
Did this put a little damper on your “PS4 has won the next-generation” parade and that’s why you are so upset?

Sensationalist? Quit being so damn sensitive. This is actually happening and is a PSA for anyone (like myself) who shouldn’t update yet.
I bet you cheer every article that bashes the Xbox One though, don’t you? ;)

I love how Sony is jumping at chance to look like heroes. You really think they aren’t going to have similar DRM to the Xbox One? They barely made an announcement and everyone thinks they have the best machine, which they might, but who really knows until they reveal more details? I do have to credit them with embracing indies though. Good on them for that.
I am glad to see the uproar about the Xbox though, holds them accountable with time to make changes. Along with that uproar, I’m sure they will “bring it” to E3 full bore.

Lovely layer of dust already visible in some angles….my “slim” 360 is already fairly scuffed, just from careful dusting alone. Glass would be nice in this case, and way more appropriate than on the back of a phone (Apple and LG; I’m talking to you).
