My theory is that some gradients are reversed so that there’s no single light source. If is all was light-dark gradients you’d assume there’s a light source at the top, which would indicate skeumorphism in some way. At least, that’s what I think the philosophy is. And yes, it’s damn ugly.

Guys, the X obviously isn’t an X, it’s the two hands of the iWatch. For simplicity, they’ve made them equally long, and centered them in the middle. The wave represents the wave of apps to be developed for the iWatch. /s

It seems that colours, despite the black and white rumours, are going to be prominent in iOS 7. At least, that’s what I expect and hope. The banners of WWDC are incredibly colourful and full of gradients.
