Merchants don’t want to have to install new hardware. Banks want to own the transaction and any commissions. Carriers want to place NFC on the SIM card itself so that they can own the transaction and are forming alliances to do so. Credit card issuers want to own the chip so as not to lose the transaction.
With so many players, it is a no wonder NFC has not taken off in any meaningful way.
Not to mention the hundreds of millions Moto is losing every quarter. Expect a major write-off in 3,2,1… It will rival Microsoft’s Aquantitative debacle.
