Id wager that a vast majority of those 900 million users aren’t going to download a Facebook branded browser. I honestly believe most people use Facebook because all their friends are there, not because of any particular love for Facebook.
If they start pushing obtrusive ads everywhere, I’d expect user engagement to go down ala MySpace.

Am I the only one who found themselves kind of bored by the article? Maybe the novelty is wearing off, but I found it more of a chore to read than something compelling and interesting. I know Paul is doing this for himself, but I wish he would come back to the Internet – I preferred his technology features much more.

This either makes Microsoft look shady (by using the DMCA to harass a competitor) or incompetent (by not being able to monitor their own search engine to remove links to sites that provide pirated software made by their own company). Or both.
Not sure it would come into play here, but doesn’t the law require that you take steps to protect your copyright or you lose the protection of the copyright? If Microsoft either can’t or won’t take steps to protect its own content from infringement, shouldn’t they lose the protection of that copyright?

I’ve been saying this for a couple of months now. They are doing a very poor job of moderating the site. You can disagree without being disagreeable, and the palpable hate for Google/Apple/MS leads to flamebaiting and comments quickly descend into an unreadable mess. It seriously makes me rethink coming to the site – it is quickly becoming a poor place to have a discussion about technology. I definitely don’t enjoy it as much as I used to, and I find myself coming less and less everyday.
If the Verge doesn’t care about the community they’ve built to take steps to make it an enjoyable place to contribute, why should I care enough to participate?

Get the DLCs, too, they tie into later parts of the story.

Definitely start with the first game. So many things tie into part 2 and 3 that youll be robbing yourself of a great experience if you dont.
I’m working on my second play through of the trilogy. :)

Geez, get over yourself already. I dont know why people continue to spout this Android copied iOS/WP7/WebOS/whatever argument over and over. Seriously. If you don’t like Android, don’t use it. You don’t have to hate on it at every opportunity just because you like/use a different platform.
I’m glad 99.9% of people in the real world don’t give a shit about whiny fanboy complaints.

Multiple hardware choices for Nexus devices will be nice. My Galaxy Nexus is nice, but I think I would jump on a Nexus with One X hardware. Hopefully HTC releases a killer Nexus.

There is nothing wrong with Company PR departments. There is something wrong with trying to paint yourself as an independent patent analyst while simultaneously being a paid consultant for companies that are involved in cases you cover and provide analysis on. There’s no way to reasonably assume that his opinions arent tainted by his consulting work with those companies.

Please stop making things up. You have absolutely nothing to support this and its pure FUD. From their site:
Groklaw is a noncommercial community-supported site. Groklaw is not affiliated with IBM, Red Hat, Novell, Google, or any other party to the litigation it covers. It’s an independent journalistic voice, funded by contributions from the FOSS community, telling the story from its point of view, because its members are, after all, while not a direct party to this lawsuit, directly interested in and affected by its outcome. It is their code and their community that is under attack. For that reason, we believe it is both natural and appropriate that we try to contribute positively to that outcome.

I highly doubt Samsung is going to fork Android. Few are going to want a Samsung phone without Google Services, and they don’t have the ecosystems that Amazon or Google do to make it successful. They don’t have any reason to ruin the good thing they have going on right now, and Google has made it clear that Motorola will not be getting preferential treatment. They have considerable incentive NOT to do so. They don’t want to risk alienating the other OEMs.

Grok law has an opinion, but theymostly provide transcripts and documents.
Most importantly, they are not paid by any of the companies involved in any of the cases they cover.
I cant believe the Verge is using them as a source. I would have found another source or not run the story at all.

Nice to see good ol Florian Meuller didn’t waste any time in trying to spin the verdict to look favorable for Oracle (now all of a sudden, the judge and jury made the “wrong” decision and the patents weren’t important anyway, the copyright claims were).
I am loathe to trust any “analysis” he gives with anything he has to say, as there’s no way to verify that anything he says isn’t colored by his status as a paid consultant for Oracle and Microsoft. Of course, both of these companies have active lawsuits against either Google or Android OEMs, and so he has a vested interest in tailoring his posts to paint those cases in the best possible light for his clients.

Satellite data and Street View are immensely helpful in finding a specific building or location if I am in an unfamiliar area. I use it a lot. Being able to see what is around an area is useful if you can’t pinpoint the specific address.
GPS and Maps are location apps, and they go hand-in-hand. Infinity Blade and Twitter are not, so it’s not a particularly good analogy. If you’re trying to pinpoint an address and want to see where it is in relation to a nearby parking lot or gas station, for example, having the satellite data could save you a lot of headache.

I do like the iOS keyboard. The ICS keyboard is really nice as well, I used SwiftKey extensively on Gingerbread but found the stock ICS keyboard so nice that I had no reason to switch.
I do tend to make more typos or have more autocorrect issues with iOS, though I blame this mostly on acclimatizing myself to the iOS keyboard rather than the way the keyboard works itself.

Could you recommend some other apps that you feel would really highlight the strengths of the platform? I got most of the top apps, but some detail into apps with really great functionality that will either fill in the gaps I noted from Android or provide something new and different I would not be able to get on Android would be helpful in rounding out my opinion.
