“I can’t remember the last time an otherwise superb game was betrayed so completely by a single mechanic.”
I can. And it was in another of Nintendo’s 3DS games: Super Mario 3D Land. While most found it to be brilliant, I found it to be broken and frustrating for one reason and one reason only. The run button. 1: The handheld finally has analog control so adding this didn’t even make sense. 2: The game was designed so that Mario continually needed to run quickly to avoid obstacles, which meant you were nearly always holding down the run button. 3: Tight platforming required precise jumping which was very awkward when I had to hold down a button with one half of my thumb and press jump with the other half. 4: The run button and attack button are the same. If they had to have a run button, they should have at least made it an out-of-the-way shoulder button that didn’t negatively impact my ability to jump and attack.
Anyway, my point is that I see where you’re coming from and can relate to one bad decision ruining an otherwise great game.

I have absolutely no idea what this comment is saying. It just… makes no sense in any aspect.

How much work did 38 actually do on the game? Wasn’t it developed by Big Huge Games?

I wonder when people are going to realize that “Facebook” gaming has existed for ages. I used to be called “flash games”. Facebook games= flash game portal, nothing more.

Well, I think that unless this is free to play no one will play it. WoW fans sure as hell won’t play it because, well, this game isn’t different enough from the one they already play. TES fans won’t play it because it’s like a generic MMO. Who’s left? Not a lot of people. I can’t believe it’s been in development for five years and this is the best they could come up with. I’m still holding out hope for the Amalur MMO.

This’ll probably have a monthly fee… but it’s Elder Scrolls and it’s on Mac… I will definitely give it a try!

Well that’s the problem, I guess. The Wii U will have user accounts so I’m guessing it won’t be an issue there. But you’d think they would have planned ahead with the 3DS…

The launch of the Saturn was one of the all time greatest blunders in gaming history. The Saturn was released with no notice whatsoever when Sega decided to move the date up for some reason at a price point $100 higher than the competition and with only six games available at launch. The PlayStation sold 100,00 units in its first weekend, while the Saturn sold 80,000 in four months. When I was a kid, I had an N64 and later a PlayStation. I remember the Genesis having a strong presence, but it wasn’t until years later that I even found out the Saturn existed. Nobody had one except the diehard Sega fans.

NSMB Wii was released in 2009 in all regions. Here’s a list of first party Wii games released since then:
Sin & Punishment 2 (published by Nintendo)
Super Mario Galaxy 2
DK Country Returns
Metroid Other M
Kirby’s Epic Yarn
Kirby’s Return to Dreamland
Zelda Skyward Sword
Xenoblade Chronicles
Rhythm Heaven Fever
Mario Party 9
And those are just the games that were published by Nintendo. Exclusives like No More Heroes 2, Epic Mickey, The Last Story (not published by Nintendo in NA), and Red Steel 2 are all excellent games.

Oh no, Nintendo has taken a loss for the first time ever! Obviously they are failing and are DOOOOOOMMMMEEEEDDD! They’ll be gone in the next year if they don’t sell off their franchises! And this is 100% true, because analysts are always right.
