I think the closest thing is the Google+ website.

Yeah, exactly. I’m not sure if tomcat.50 was being completely serious or just dreaming, but I really don’t think it will be possible or ever happen.

Why should Google be required to accomidate other platforms like WhatsApp and iMessage? If that happens they should accomidate Hangouts as well.

But iMessage only works and will only ever work on Apple platforms. Most people have Google accounts, so it’s generally not something new they have to sign up for, just usually something new they have to download. And it works with far more people.

They can use the webapp of it, but it’s not as easy as an app on the phone constantly polling for messages.

I’m still unclear on if a G+ account is required to use it effectively. I’d love to get people I text the most on Hangouts, but the vast majority use iPhones, so it’s another thing they have to install instead of just something (usually) already on the phone like in Android. It’s especially helpful for things like when I’m somewhere else but all my friends are watching a sporting event. Instead of us all having separate text conversations we could all be in together. But I think it’s a harder sell when people only use SMS as opposed to using any messaging app.

Yeah, I’d much rather buy albums I like. But one problem I hve is getting a good idea of if I’ll even like an album or artist. I’ve never realy given Spotify a chance, but with a 30 day free trial I’ll try this service, especially since this is how I listen to music on my phone. I’m hoping it lets me dig into some stuff I haven’t had a chance to listen to pretty painlessly.

But it doesn’t solve the issue of me wanting to be able to communicate with people on iOS while on my phone or computer since I can’t send SMS from my computer.

And this is a major issue as well, because most everyone I talk to uses an iPhone. So I can’t get in on iMessage, but they don’t want to get in on Hangouts.

I wish Hangouts relied on gmail accounts instead of Google+. That way anyone with an Android phone already has Hangouts good to go, like Talk was. Unless I’m mistaken, that’s no longer the case and you have to have a G+ account to utilize the service.

T-Mobile’s $30 a month prepaid plan has unlimited texting and pretty much every MVNO seems to as well.
