I position the dock on the left to increase the vertical space. Honestly, I spend most of my time in full-screen mode and use Spotlight to launch apps and open folders, so it really doesn’t matter to me.

I think that I am going to continue to use Reeder and Press and just find another back-end service tor them. Feedbin is looking like a good option at the moment.

If you plan to be sitting at a desk or table most of the time using it, an iPad would be worth it; the extra screen space makes a huge difference when web browsing. I feel that it is too heavy to hold for extended periods of time while reading though, and would go with the iPad Mini for myself.

You are missing out on some of my personal favorite apps like Pocket, SimpleNote, and Reeder. I would bet that you would also have a better mobile web browsing experience on Android or iOS. Go try a iPod Touch at Best Buy.
