Kinect used along with a controller could be very cool. Microsoft didn’t let the first generation of Kinect games do that though. So has MS learned that lesson?

Choppy representations yes. The idea here is hamstrung because it has to pretend to be a controller. The on-screen character doesn’t draw a bow until the player has already made the stance. However if the player and character moved together the bow would be drawn as the player moves into the stance.

The sad thing is those out of shape gamers could lose weight if they just exercised for the 1 to 8 hours of gaming per day that they do. It’s well established that working at a standing desk burns notably more calories than sitting at a desk. Games that can find a way to make motion controls fun will turn a largely sedentary activity into real exercise. Even if the calories per hour never exceeds that of walking a golf course, it’s still helpful.

To the superheroes yes, and also any falling people Spiderman swings into and grabs. The idea of going from 120mph to 20 in 200 feet is still laughable when there’s ten people hanging off of a regular person.

He countered 80% of gravity for twelve people. That’s the amount of energy needed to carry 9.6 people.
SPOILER:
The dumbest thing by far was how the last person was reached ridiculously close to the ground and only then was Iron Man able to slow them from terminal velocity. The G-force on one person would be near-lethal let alone the forces on the first few people holding onto the rest. I’d have enjoyed it more and rolled my eyes less if the last person was grabbed at 1000 feet, not 200.

On the other hand having the tallest building in the world would have the message that we came back bigger than before.

Check out the cover story of this months Atlantic Magazine. http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/
We aren’t going to run out of oil. Methane hydrate may well replace a lot of oil. Fracking is also set to free the USA from importing oil in just twenty years.
Current levels of consumption is almost useless because things will change. Some vehicles can switch to natural gas from gasoline. Others will switch to lithium-air batteries. Oil consumption will drop drastically. Oil may get more expensive but that will only make tar sands and other recovery techniques more economical which grows the amount of oil worth extracting.

Hipsters can afford cable or satellite TV. Probably a lot of the 10-15% of households that still get TV over the air can’t.
In my neighborhood reception is no problem with an antenna on the roof. But in New York City rent is insane which makes housing a challenge. The requirement there is living on an upper floor and not having the signal reflected by the other buildings. That’s not realistic for many people in that area.
For decades the networks made quality TV with the money they got from advertisers. If they can’t do that model anymore I suggest they become cable and satellite TV-only, the spectrum goes to cell phone networks, and just like low-income folks get reduced-rate phone service, have the government require reduced-rate cable TV plans for those same households.

Fine so Jordanians and Syrians and West Bankians and Gaza Strippians are all Arabs, but rather than call some of them Gaza Strippians, or worse – Gaza Strippers, we could call those people Palestinians along with those from the West Bank.
