I personally hope it does not meet expectations, for 2 reasons: 1st the price is likelier to come down (making the device hopefully as cheap as it looks), and 2nd it might mean that the underdogs like HTC and Sony remain having a chance.

I think what Google is doing right now, apart from Glass, is showing their plentitude of hardware partners how they feel a proper package for their software shall look like. In some sense similar to what Msft does with Surface. As far as hardware strategies are concerned, Google’s primary objective will always be to get their ads, which is how they make their money, to as wide a range of devices as possible. Too fiercly competing with the likes of Samsung, Asus, HTC, Sony or LG would contradict this in my mind. Where this leaves Motorola is a different question. Who knows what they have in mind with that company.

Could not agree more, and it does not require a physicists knowledge to realize this particular concept of a distributed cloud has little, if any, environmental advantages. Others, like owncloud.org might, since they utilize NASes already in place and powered on as well.

Don’t see how this is more energy efficient than a data-center. Still way into the article I thougt it was about using capacities anyway on, as in idling PCs, or even something more fancy, like distributing servers to homes and use them as a heat source.

As it seems HTC is doing many things right currently. And I think one should not bash Samsung for coming up with trashy designs, as these help keeping the underdog companies in the market.

Could be they don’t want their crapware removed too easily. Honestly, from a European perspective I find it hard to comprehend how people in the US are able to put up with their ISPs.
