This is literally the last paragraph in the Verge GS4 Review:
For now, it’s a choice every buyer will have to make. You can have the far better-looking phone or you can have the slightly better-performing phone — and you really can’t choose wrong. If the GS III is any indication, millions upon millions will choose the GS4. Me? I think design matters. Polish matters. The Galaxy S4 is fast and impressive, but it’s also noisy and complex. The One is refined, quiet, comfortable, beautiful, and above all simply pleasant. I love using that phone, in a way I haven’t experienced with anything since the iPhone 5. That’s why, when my contract is up in June, I’ll probably be casting my lot with HTC instead of Samsung.
Not to mention, no one on the verge says the GS4 is a disaster, they just say they would much rather have the phone that isn’t plastic. Last year in the GS3 review, Vlad said flat out the GS3 was a better phone.
But the thing your missing is that just because something sells a lot, doesn’t always mean its better. Samsung wins because they have great marketing and really great sales channels. They are everywhere. For example, my cousin bought a GS4. She didn’t even know that the HTC One existed.

I meant year as in that’s when they do the spring cleaning stuff. I’m hoping they finish hangouts (big thing is SMS and Google Voice integration) in at least 3 to 4 months max.

The license was expiring because Apple chose not to renew it. For years, Google offered to include Turn-by-Turn into the preinstalled app, but Apple said no.
They decided they wanted to control the situation by themselves and it turns out that was a big mistake. Scott Forstall paid the price for it.

It’s a 2011 MBP 15’.

I just think it’s better on Windows. With the taskbar, I’d rather just see only the things I have open and then click on each one whenever I need to switch.

Re stable browser experience…is chrome happier in win8 than osx then? My whole workload takes place in chrome one way or another so stability is really key. I rarely get crashes in win8 and often need up to 40 tabs over 4 instances running all at once
Like I said, the main problem is Flash. I’m not sure if it’s Apple’s fault or Adobe’s fault, but nevertheless Flash on a Mac is terrible, it’s nearly flawless on a PC. Just something to keep in mind.

Well, the Nexus 4 doesn’t have LTE. I really like the LCD in the Nexus 4, although a lot of people complain about it being washed out.
The GS4 G.E. (especially based on your criteria) is the better option in every way.

Your right about the speakers. The speakers in my macbook pro SUCK! They are so hard to hear at times, it’s ridiculous.

First things first, don’t buy any laptop unless they have Intel’s haswell chips. You should wait until July or August probably.
I have a 2011 MBP and I actually run both OSX and Windows daily. I mostly use Windows 8 on it through bootcamp, at least when I’m at home. I really only use OSX for work or for battery life (apple doesn’t give bootcamp drivers for the integrated gpu).
I personally think Windows is better. I like having a taskbar to keep track of all the stuff I have open. Also, when it comes to things like flash, things just seem more stable on Windows 8, much more so compared to OSX. My browser never crashes in Windows. It crashes every other day in OSX. Also, I like PC Gaming.
Although one major caveat is that I use Start8 with Windows 8. It’s a start menu replacement that allows for boot to desktop and brings back the start menu in a way that visually matches with Windows 8. Without it, Windows 8 is horrible. It’s a night/day difference.
OSX is good in its own way. Spaces can be really nice. I’m just not a big fan of it’s window management, especially after they fucked up expose.
Apple probably makes the best hardware, although I think Lenovo and Samsung do a pretty decent job as well. I really like the Lenovo Yoga.
So here is what it comes down to:
- If you want the best hardware, go with a Macbook Air or Macbook Pro 15. (Don’t waste time and money with Retina MBP 13.)
- If you want the best software, take a look at the Asus Zenbook, Samsung Series laptops, or Lenovo Yoga.
- If you want to save money, maybe you should use a Chromebook.

It sounds like Google is going out of their where to specifically make your life worse. What did you do to them?
BTW, Google Now worked for my parents when they went to India. Flights and weather mostly.

You can’t just end it immediately since people still use it. In a year, once Hangouts is complete and does all the functions of the apps and services it replaces, there will be a celebratory spring cleaning.

I’ve used it on my android phone with at least 4 other people across a multitude of devices and have never had any trouble. Hangouts to Hangouts or Hangouts to Gtalk has worked great for me.

Oh please. Netflix doesn’t run on Microsoft’s servers.
And yes, I think you can very easily compare Sony to Microsoft. I’ve never had any trouble using Sony’s online services to play madden online or watch Netflix. Unless they are being hacked, they are fine.
