Llabtoofer has said that the HTC One Google Edition is real. “Just wait a few months…”

Stop being such a fucking fanboy. The reality is that Apple remains one of the most popular brands for smartphones.

Filled with “I have no idea what you’re seeing because I’m not seeing it” posts.
Meanwhile here everyone seems to be nodding in assent.

As far as I can tell, people have only been saying that sales are great.
8 days ago on Are there any sales numbers for the HTC One yet?

I think you should probably consider doing a factory data reset.

The thing is that it’s a known issue from very early builds. There’s been a production level change to drastically strengthen the glue used. If it was even glued on before, it’s likely that the switch was to epoxy.
I would’ve rather seen screws though. It would’ve added a really neat industrial feel to the front and would’ve made the grilles easy to take off and clean.

Which is why Samsung really should’ve worked on OIS and improved an 8MP sensor instead of making a 13MP sensor for the sake of bigger numbers.

Nope. It’s a fundamental increase in sensitivity that accounts for most of it. If that was all it took to get this kind of result, everyone should be using 13MP cameras.

And it’s a fundamental fact that larger photosites increase sensitivity. Take all of the innovation done to prevent degradation of quality from smaller photosites like BSI, stacked CMOS, and OIS. Take it all back and go to the larger photosites, and you will get much better results. This is not just because the exposure time and ISO is more, because I can tell you that even if you equalize the two, the One will put out better results.
Just for your edification, here’s a comparison of the 8X and the One. I had to use a custom camera app to set the exposure time on the 8X to half a second. The One is at 800 ISO and a third of a second: http://imgur.com/a/jOOjN#1

And then we can turn on night mode on the One and absolutely blow the Note 2 away.
It works both ways. The simple fact is that for the same exposure and ISO, bigger photosites will capture a brighter image. Period. Full stop. End of story.

For power button, I installed a custom kernel. HTC logo is now the power button and sleep button, also doubles as a menu button.
I’m pretty happy with the layout.

It’s not overblown. People weren’t fine with the GS3/Note 2 plastic, people just put up with it.
If you really think it’s fine, buy it. Use it without a case, preferably during the summer, and preferably when it’s 90F or so. Make sure you get nice and sweaty. Don’t wash your hands constantly, don’t clean your phone constantly. Do this for a few weeks. Then tell me how the GS4’s plastic feels.
I simply cannot handle any demo units for the GS3/Note 2 with my finger, touching the back is just absolutely disgusting when other people have used it and a fine layer of oil, skin, and dirt has settled upon the cover of the phone.

Actually, the real reason why you wouldn’t want to buy an S4 is because they’ve locked the bootloader.
Everyone has been plugging their ears and pretending it isn’t true, but Samsung has done it. It’s basically the Verizon GS3 all over again, but for everybody instead of just one carrier.

You can do a max of 7 hours of web browsing in a day before the phone dies, once you factor in account syncing and all that other stuff.
In other words, you are going to barely make it. I would suggest a car charger or an external battery. Go for a slim one, 2000-3000 mAh is more than enough for your use.
Comment
Sure, but with the S4 and the One, either your hand is going to take all that heat or the internal components will.
These phones are not make to run at full blast on all cores loaded for any period of time.

Go to the Anandtech HTC One review. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much vitriol and accusations of bias/bribery.
Hell, even in the S4 part 1 review, there was at least one comment that said Brian Klug shouldn’t have done the review because “he’s biased against the S4”. In other words, he was accused of bias for not praising the S4 enough.
I seriously just can’t make this stuff up.

To me (which means that it is certainly not universal), the HTC One is just a better phone, but I completely concur when it comes to the plastic bashing.
Yes, the design is not going to wow people and it is still the hyperglaze that everyone has seen and felt by now. No, this is not nearly as big a deal as people make it to be. While it’s fine to debate the functional advantages and disadvantages of PC vs Alu, it makes zero sense to just say “LOL PLASTIC SUX NOT PREMIUM” and consider that a valid argument.
