Why is anyone on here defending any of these companies? Seems pretty stupid to me.
Rich companies vs. corrupt government…..it’s a lose lose for all of us in the middle anyways.
As much as I think the laws need to be updated; I am also in the agree with this camp.
People should not be allowed to rent out property that they do not own, AirBNB should be verifying that these people own the homes before letting anyone put anything up.
When you get into people renting out their own homes/property which they rightfully own it certainly get’s into a very grey area.
I love how half the comments praise Apple for trying something new and crazy and Google for being boring even though we have no idea what Apple is really doing :). Classic
And you thought people reporting taxes on purchases from Amazon was a big deal :P haha.
I see nothing wrong with ride-sharing or AirBnB except for that fact that (at least in San Francisco) 100% of the people I know that operate one or both services try and cheat taxes and make as much profit as possible and more often than not do it illegally.
Things like renting out an apartment you don’t own? Reporting your car purchase or the rent you pay as job expenses on your taxes so you get huge tax returns. Even though technically these companies say they are not creating jobs for people but allowing easy access to what was already available….they are in a way.
Do I know what would happen if we got rid of all the rules and went all nilly willy with it…no. But at least from my perspective it seems more people are abusing these services than actually using it the way it was intended in first place.
