Not really expecting much in the way of games tomorrow…who knows though, maybe MS will surprise me.
I am however curious to see what type of media services/deals they’ve worked out.

Thank you! I was looking at how to spell his name everywhere. I actually saw the spelling I used on multiple sites. Fixed.

It doesn’t matter what OS they’re using the software on, just that they’re using the software.

If you are looking at a micro level, sure it appears they’re playing catch up to a lot of things that already exist in some form from other companies. However if you zoom out a bit it’s actually quite impressive where Google has started to where they’re headed.
I wrote about it in the Google Forums here: http://www.theverge.com/2013/5/16/4338184/google-i-o-looking-at-the-bigger-picture-google-2-0

That’s because Google isn’t competing with iOS in selling hardware, it’s not their business model. They are competing in software, users and mind share. It doesn’t matter if those users are on Android or iOS, the data is all the same. As Larry Page eloquently put it, it’s not a zero-sum game.

Thanks. Glad I was able to help you see the light. :)
I believe hardware is getting less and less important. Mobile hardware has matured at a much faster rate than it did on desktop and now software and services will separate the companies more than anything. I think Google has the clear advantage going forward. It will be interesting to see how Apple, Microsoft and Amazon responds in the near future. They all have their own agendas and ways of making money but are continuously overlapping in markets.

Thank you. I think Google is playing the long game with G+. Continually adding great features and as more people give it a 2nd and 3rd look they’ll start moving over, especially younger people. Facebook looks extremely dated compared to G+ now.

Just noticed all the “disappointed” Android users on the forums…makes this post more pertinent.
