Well I’m glad the Kinect does no such thing and that people wouldn’t attempt to spread FUD about it.

Sure digital could potentially lower prices, but that isn’t the issue, the issue is giving away your game or reselling it (for a poor amount of money if you go to GameStop) that made them increase the cost of games. Sony will not be able to convince retailers to lower the price of games on the PS4 because of their model, which is draconian in this day and age. Microsoft will. Sure physical disks cost them money still, but knowing that those disks are locked down allows them to reduce the pricing they increased to make up for people buying used games. It’s pretty straightforward logic.
As for digitally downloading games, both consoles will have that feature, but PS4’s DRM on digitally downloaded and installed games is draconian comapared to Xbox One (You can’t sell them to anyone else or transfer titles of digitally installed games on PS4, only physical games), so in that arena Xbox One wins.
In the end this is just like the Steam model, hated at first, loved over time. Microsoft is playing the long game and it will pay off.

They are 90% similar, and you trolling is kind of funny.

They championed no DRM then implemented DRM.

People championed them as the no-DRM console, but they have DRM just like the rest. If you shunned Xbox One for DRM then you should also shun the PS4.

So game lending is the real issue then?

I did, but I also read it was for other things and not this such as auto-updates of apps (which if you own a 360 currently and go to play an app you have installed but haven’t touched for a while, you would know is a pita) and also for the cloud-services portion of games (you know, using servers to render an epic battle in the background while the console renders things pertinent to the gamer).

They haven’t stated if this is possible, I’d imagine it would be considering only one console would have it at a time, but no clue.

Yes they can? It’s not rocket science to check if a game is installed onto a HDD and underwent that process, nor is it rocket science to require an internet connection with an account.

Has Microsoft even stated that the 24 hour check is actually for DRM and not for their auto-updates they announced and cloud integration though? I haven’t read one piece saying “We need to check 24 hours specifically to see if you are pirating a game”.

How did it “bake” it into the console, supply the arguments so I can shoot them down one by one.

Agreed, Xbox gave us a harsh truth, Sony tried to lie and cover it up yesterday. Their wording (if you noticed) was “our” games wont have DRM, that’s great Sony, people took that for games on your console, not your first party exclusives. Glad you guys conned America.

Purposefully twisting how you say something to manipulate people, not lying! In my opinion it’s worse.

So many hypocrites in this thread it’s amusing. Sony must have paid a lot of shills to come write “It’s the same thing”, just like they paid a ton of shills to write “Xbox One is evil for enforcing DRM”, congrats Sony shills on failing.

Publishers can though, they can require you to install the game, nullifying it for resale or trade or loaning.

Isn’t it funny how the same people who mercilessly persecute the Xbox One are now defending the PS4 on the same front? Hypocrites make me cringe.

Yes, which is exactly why people were pissed. You didn’t realize what Sony was already doing was what Xbox followed suit on? This is pretty hilarious.

Same thing for Xbox, how can they stop it? All they did was say that 3rd party devs could do it, and people freaked, even though they said the same thing as Sony when it came to first party devs, don’t try to underplay this.

Lol, hypocrite in action. Xbox implements the same thing that Sony had already and people freak out. Now the only difference is the 24 hour check, DRM is still completely there and available and all the fears Sony fans played on for the Xbox One’s DRM hype are just as true for their console.
