You are crazy if you think the majority of consumers give a crap about removable batteries and SD slots. You read too many comments sections on tech sites. Nobody wants to carry around an extra battery. Expandable storage will sound nice, but when it comes down to it the average person to walk into an AT&T store will most certainly not base their decision in the slightest on the inclusion of it.
It’s all about marketing, market share and gimmicky features. My girlfriend has an iPhone and I showed her my GS4, she liked it but she wasn’t sold until I showed her airview/smart scroll, etc… Now she wants one.
HTC went the opposite route. I think they made a better phone because of it. Unfortunately the market doesn’t seem to give a shit. (I only went GS4 because the ONE has major issues with Dead Pixels, but nobody ever mentions that so I don’t think it’s really a factor in sales).

The funny thing is that there are a couple of youtube apps for Windows Phone that have been doing this since WP7. Metrotube being the main one, which is actually a better app than Microsofts, but I digress.
Had MS not made this app WP users would have been accessing youtube content in the same way without Google batting an eye. The right thing to do for Google would have been to create it’s own youtube app on WP, but of course they have a stick up their ass about creating apps for that platform. It’s not like it would take all that many resources to create one or two and would have avoided this sort of situation. This seems like a sort of “F*** you!” from MS for Google being difficult. If you’re going to ignore our platform, we’re going to screw you over with our own app.

It’s bad to people who prefer tech sites to report news without taking a side on the issue they are reporting on. That helps to give more credibility to the articles as it isn’t so obviously slanted to one side or another— That applies to whether we’re talking about politics or apple vs. android.
The Verge tends to take an obvious stance in their articles. I’d prefer they weren’t, but I’m not the creator of this site. The Verge is simply not what I, or others who think similarly, want it to be. And that’s fine. If that gets them an audience, and maybe that’s what the audience really wants, then whatever. I’ve stopped visiting as much as I used to since I started feeling this site becoming much more political, about around when the elections were heating up. That political bent seems to have continued. I don’t consider myself republican or democrat, I’m just not much into politics and wish they’d stick to tech reporting.

It’s faster and lighter than Windows 7. There’s that reason.
