They are probably hoping the discussion will die out and people will just complain for a few weeks and then swallow when it’s released. Their PR isn’t stupid and are surely aware this has been discussed a lot lately, but they aren’t going to enter a heated discussion just to pour gasoline on it if all they’ve got is bad news.

In my opinion, we had already reached that point before this phone.

I can’t wait for 1000 ppi displays. They’ll be called “1K displays” in the spec sheets, and people will ask “but does it have a 1K display?”

Begun, the ppi war has.
I can’t even distinguish pixels on a 300 ppi mobile display. But hey, maybe I have poor eyesight despite a fairly recent eye exam!

The free (!) 1 TB would still be just a gimmick if the site looked same old. But it doesn’t! Wow. I was so close migrating photos from Flickr + 500px to Google+ (I dislike what Facebook does to my JPEG’s), but this made me reconsider. I’ll now have room for all my photos without a problem here, and it already has a large photo community and plenty groups for photo enthusiasts, gearheads, etc. Yes, this will do.

I’m not sure I understand the point. When I have my eyeball two inches from my MBP Retina display, I can finally see tiny pixels for a short moment until I get an eye-ache.
Isn’t this just to look good on a spec sheet? I hope we won’t get the equivalent of a Megapixel war here, where needlessly high resolution displays are pushed out at the cost of graphics refresh rate.

I need to start reading more carefully. Thought for a moment that the US had attacked BitCoin itself, but this reads more like a criminal suspect being tracked down.

I don’t think Google has anything to be worried about there. Apple already allow competing services from Google (strangely enough), such as Google Maps and Google Now (with Siri-like functionality), Google Play Books (iBookstore).

What’s up with Apple… With iTunes, I thought they’d have the experience from launching music services, but they’re about to miss this train. They aren’t even working on the right kind of service, in my opinion. I think Spotify-like subscription services with 100% liberated listening is far superior to radio/Pandora-like services which feel like they should have been launched 10 years ago already.
I can’t wait for Google to start competing with Spotify! As for Apple, uh, it’s kinda embarrassing.

They still need to give Google Drive Web better support for IE and locked down security. I couldn’t even download a file from a shared folder with that combo, which is (unfortunately) common in the enterprise when giving tech support. Dropbox works both on IE and in the restricted security zone. Some hassle, but you’ll get your file in the end.
Sure, at home I run Google Chrome Canary and Firefox Betas galore, but…
The day Google Drive gets no-script support and all, I’m switching.

OK good. And now they need to take down Tor and Freenet.

I’m sure the people printing 3D gun files distributed anonymously and encrypted on Tor and Freenet will care a lot about this legislation. There’s no other illegal content on these networks due to scary laws with serious penalties, so they seem to be efficient. I’m also sure potential criminals aren’t aware of these networks or can’t be made aware of them.
