i don’t get the “what is the story of the phone” argument ! what story did apple tell at the release event for the iPhone 4S. what has a stolen software (siri) in common with the improved camera on the iPhone 4S ? that all seemingly does not fit together but when samsung lists a plethora of user interface improvements you are arguing that this is not ok, because there is no story to it. a feature is a feature. it does not need a story behind it. if i can cut paper with the mini-scissors of my swiss knife than i can do that without there being a story in place why a got a frickin scissor in my swiss knife.
the other argument of chris i think it was “i am never sure if the feature will still be there in the next phone”. why is everything a problem with samsung features and those seconds thoughts don’t apply to htc, apple, lg and so on ? the gesture features introduced with the galaxy s2 stayed on and are available in the galaxy s3. why being overly sceptic if there is no reason to be ! i think you guys were probably infected by myriams stubborness when she was on the podcast lately

the Galaxy S3 for sure…
having a Galaxy S2 right now, i have still to check if the S3 is too big for me, but if it is not i’ll go for it.
can’t stand HTCs Sense crap and its great that Samsung put in its expertise in software to implement features into the stock samsung rom that formerly needed you to root your phone and install jkays deluxe stuff and so on. makes the phone so much better out of the box, you’d probably would not even need to root it to have a great experience and that is worth so much. i am laughing at the htc one x users with their locked/restricted bootloaders.

nice to read a different view on that topic !
i have to agree in that peoples expectations are mainly at fault for the uproar right now.
if the iPhone 4S is a good and valid successor to the iPhone 4 then the Galaxy SIII is as well.
there are many parallels between those two iterations of phones.
when it seen as “huge leap of camera quality”(according to the reviewers) when Apple introduces a backside illuminated camera sensor i can not comprehend that no one even cares to mention that the galaxy SIII does sport a backside illuminated sensor as well. if apple can buy a silly software, make an artificial restriction so it does only run on the latest iPhone (you guessed it, i’m talking about siri) and acts as if Apple invented it, i can not see why apple gets credit for that and samsung doesn’t.
the software really seems to be polished. one little thing where you can see that is that they took what was formerly only available as mod/custom rom and implemented it in their stock rom. i am talking about the side-swipeable quickbuttons up top the notification area. up until now you could only get that by flashing or rooting + modding your galaxy sII with jkays deluxe mod.
more functionality out of the box makes this phone more complete and easier to use for new smartphone users. in apples world it’s called “there’s an app for that”, but its even better when you do not even need an app for that because it is built-in.
the remarks regarding the “best pic” feature and the alleged stolen status of it is ridiculous, because if one would consider himself a smartphone expert/reviewer one would have known that the Sony Ericsson C905 did have this best picture feature already 4 years ago, so praising htc for putting it into their phone now years later can hardly be viewed as a great feature.
