Yes, but why they designed an ugly phone? In this time and age it is almost unthinkable for a huge corporation with almost limitless funds and resources to miss that much. It’s not like with other phones: some people like it, some don’t, most indifferent. With SGSIII it’s “get this motha ucker away from me, it’s scaring my child” kind of ugly.

You’re right dissss, but on the other hand those cars are mostly designed by European designers. (not sure about Hyundai, but Kias were definitely designed by some rockstar Italian designer)

I think it goes much deeper then that. I think it has much to do with the Asian culture, specifically with the Korean culture. I think that they have trouble understanding the Western culture, esthetics and preferences, so they have to copy. Take that “Designed for Humans” tagline. Well of course it’s designed for humans – it’s a phone. It defensively wasn’t designed for monkeys or cats or trees. This tagline smells 80’s. Simple as that. They wanted to tell their customers that the phone is more accessible, more convenient, easier to use, but instead they use this awkward, translated tagline, which may or may not sound great in Korean, but is weird in English.
IMHO same goes for design. They are a bit lost on what a Westerner would like, design-wise. Design is much harder to change, so they are compelled to copy.

It’s not about change. It’s about, Root, Kernel, Rom, etc. The average Jo doesn’t know what those are, and simply scared to brick his phones in attempt to update it. That’s it.
The only thing Google need to do is to create an easy update mechanism (plug-n-play, or over-the-air kind of thing)

@Sammael – couldn’t say it better myself. Definitely not a flagship design. I’m going for HTC ONE X this time.

Samsung needs to hire some better designers.

I was waiting for this to get a new phone (currently using the SGS), but this will definitely not be it.
