put it on the context of my country: would you spend US$1250 in a 16GB plastic Galaxy?
If you did, I would call you crazy.

Sold or shipped? If it’s 5M sold, I would say: impressive. Half of S4 sales in the same period is way more than I would expect from HTC at this point. One deserves it.

I don’t. Yet, considering I live in Brazil, where an iPhone 5/S4/Lumia 920 costs US$1200-US$1300 unlocked, a high end smartphone really needs to aggregates the best in all categories for me to buy it. If it doesn’t, I’ll stick with a mid range.
The only phone in the markets that, usually, aggregates all best specs in one package is the iPhone. So, if iOS 7 is disappointing, I’ll probably prefer spend my money in a mid range them rather opt for a high end plastic Android device, or a boring, expensive iOS 7 device.

If we’re talking about Mac versions against iOS versions… come on, Keynote is the state of the art in this category. Now, if you compare PowerPoint on WinRT with Keynote for iOS, of course, WinRT will have the advantaged.

In terms of specs, yes. In terms of build quality or design (which were the points I were taking about, right?). No.
Of course, a few months later Apple introduced iPhone 4, and… changed the smartphone market upside down.
BTW, I totally agree on the point about Milestone & others in terms of specs. 3GS days were BAD for Apple. But… come on, it was Android 2.1, 2.2… also known as shit. Android just gets serious on ICS. Until there, it was horrible.

A lot of iOS apps also have OSX versions that seamlessly work cross-platform via iCloud
This is what, I believe, will never let me get out of iOS.
I honestly would like to try something like Nexus 4. But… the ecosystem locks me.

Simple: people don’t like to use their Android tablets, or, putting in other words, they use it less. Whether this is because many of those tablets are very cheap ones, for emergent markets, with crappy touch panels, leggy interfaces or horrible battery life, or simply because there’s something right on iOS that makes people use it more, and more, and more.
This is not exclusive to iPad. Even though some charts talk about iOS having 23% of current smartphone business, Safari still represents over 60% of smartphone share in web traffic. There’s a reason for that: iOS owners use their phones and tablets more frequently. Why? Well, maybe it’s because iOS is boring.

I always thought Diamond was ugly and weird. The screen was too small, even for the standards of 2008. At that time, I would prefer its biggest non-Apple competitor, the original Samsung Omnia.

3G/3GS was bad, very bad, but… at that time, its competitors was even worst.
Now… iPhone 1??? My god! How can you say that? That design was wayyyy ahead of its time. Even for Apple, It took 5 years for them to get back to aluminum.

The only thing I hate about iTunes is: performance. It’s heavy, it takes forever to load things. Besides that, I have zero complains about it.

Here’s other reason for why I love iPhone:
http://blog.laptopmag.com/iphone5-beats-galaxys4-camera

A camera comparison done by LaptopMag, detail: They made people vote in a series of photos taken with S4 and iPhone 5, but didn’t said which photo was taken with which one. So, it was a blind, totally honest, test.
Again, a 9 months old camera. Imagine now when iPhone 5S comes, considering the “S” versions always bring huge improvements for the camera.

I don’t hate it, I just think it’s out of space among other native apps on OSX, like Safari, Mail, iTunes.
Of course, iCal on iPad is also out of space, but you run it fullscreen all the time, while on OSX you always will have Safari and Mail there, in the background, showing the contrast.

Of course I’m serious. I really don’t care about games, but the “Interactive TV” demo… man! the precision in the voice recognition, the precision in the sensors, is just out of that planet. It’s alien technology. It’s like the original iPhone keynote.

Agree. I’m an iOS guy, but HTC has being doing amazing job. HTC One is the first smartphone to match (maybe even surpass) iPhone build quality and design, considering the market took 5 years to that do, they certainly deserve credit! A lot of credit!
HTC First would probably be my Android of choice if it was sold in my country, small, stock Android.
HTC can’t die, can’t lose its force. They are, pretty much, the only Android OEM that innovates right now. It is, together with Nokia and Apple, the only companies that takes smartphone engineering seriously.
