The reason why we all love webos so much is simply because it was run like apple’s ios, total control of software and hardware is the only answer for such elegance and fluid ux. Making it open source is just the cheapest option other than killing it, but it wont do any good as I’ve yet to see any open source projects winning. android is open source but google has its own version which is the best and they make their ecosystem apps for it while generating tons of money through ads, so its not really that open. other than that nothing won not even firefox or any linux distro because what is the motivation for all these people who do this as ahobby and have to put food on their table. Open source is a good idea on paper but fails everytime in exectuion…

and rim they all need to die so we can focus on whose really working hard and competing.

I sure hope hp will go into the garbage of history, and microsoft too.

I really despise open source for having all this fragmentation that withholds linux from taking over, seriously why doesn’t the gnome, ubuntu and the elementary guys get together and build the best linux os out there, why do I have to use windows which is just utter crap when there is something free and light years ahead??

The whole os is fine and getting alot better with their appstore, but their whole design philosphy sucks it feels like the windows mobile era again, unity also is the worst ui linux got and I would take the new gnome 3 over it any day.
