And simultaneously it’s also the problematic “this patent is on the idea of doing something already done, but via a different medium”. Boy is the U.S. patent system fucked up that it isn’t even remotely surprising that this is a real patent.

NO beef will ever be as good for you as a locally grown salad mix.
Yeah, personally I get all my protein and B12 from salads. Yup.
Seriously, most studies on how diets affect health have shown the easiest way to eat healthy is to be an ovo-lacto vegetarian who cheats. Surprise surprise, the best option is to have a diet that’s varied and practices moderation, how counterintuitive!

There’s no telling how long the stream will be available on RBMA…
…aaaaaand this is why I worry about the obsession with streaming rather than downloading. Content becomes significantly more ephemeral, and falls more into the hands of centralized distribution than the distributed state it’s been enjoying this last decade.

This wasn’t a terrible argument with some of the previous generations of consoles, where the time between was shorter but the technological improvements were visually apparent.
This cycle, however, the current-gen has lasted over half a decade and on the surface at least the result of the newer hardware isn’t necessarily blindingly obvious, unlike it was with the PS2 versus PS1 or 360 versus Xbox 1 (not One…sigh).
For example, going from 720p to 1080p is not a leap like 480i to 720p was, so people aren’t necessarily going to be discarding their massive libraries built up over this half-decade in droves. And I mean, hell, they even have a nearly identical controller.

You don’t care about any of those, but many did (especially if their old console died and they had to buy a new one that suddenly didn’t have memory slots, or PS2 compatibility, or SACD playback—-which AFAIK was even gimped down to stereo on the models whose hardware still supported it, etc etc). Mostly I was just pointing out that Sony has a tendency to remove functionality as the lifecycle goes on—-even in software, thus ruining the “I’ll just keep my old console and hope it doesn’t die” strategy—-in response to the claims above about 360 versus PS3 functionality over time.

The lesson for those the in web music industry is that negotiations could prove to be much more difficult with this group of creators.
Err. You’re giving into the publishing companies’ rather deliberately framed conception and terminology if you’re equating music publishing companies like Sony with the actual creators. Hell, even with the closest example given here, it’s a joint label between Sony and Michael Jackson’s estate. Further mention is of BMG, another giant company that publishes and sometimes bankrolls content, not creates it. Still not seeing any actual creators represented, just the middlemen who buy from the creators and sell to others.
The idea that these music publishers “represent” the actual artists is a party line they love proclaim, but the reality has never been quite that. At best, their interests align with those of the artist, but they’re distinct, and sometimes diametrically opposed.

Mostly because I like their direction better and I believe that the XBOX team believes in improving their products throughout the years unlike Sony.
Wow, what an incredibly uninformed comment. Sony has greatly improved the functionality of the PS3 over the years, just as Microsoft has done with the Xbox. Stop being a fanboy.
Sure, Sony has improved some functionality. They’ve also greatly removed functionality, however. Lets get a small list of features Sony has removed over the PS3’s lifecycle, shall we?
That’s off the top of my head and a quick search of “remove” on the PS3 firmware article on Wikipedia. It’s actually quite standard for Sony; they did the same thing even with the original PlayStation, where nearly each revision lacked another feature the previous one did. It’s kindof Sony’s modus operandi.
Fanboy information: This generation I bought both a 360 (used) and a PS3 (new). Next generation I intend to buy neither. I feel like both companies are merely out for profit because they’re, you know, companies.

That’s kindof wonky. The PowerPC-based Xbox 360 supported many x86-based Xbox games, but the x86-based Xbox One won’t support any PowerPC-based Xbox 360 titles.
Also, in the process of typing I was confronted with how annoying the name “Xbox One” is if you’re attempting to refer to the full lineage.

Indeed. This kind of setup may not work for most information, but it’s actually exceptionally suited for what Urban Dictionary is, ie. a collection of mass linguistic usage.
