I’ve had the unlocked 32GB HTC One for about a month now and absolutely love this thing. I’m a phone junkie and buy new phones every 3-4 months but I’m going to try and stick out with this one until next years model.
Sense 5 is the best skin out and I even prefer it over stock. It’s incredibly fast and sleek, matches the hardware aesthetic perfectly. It reminds me of using an iPhone because it feels like you’re getting a unique experience with the One. You definitely get the feeling that HTC put A LOT of time into the hardware and software here. The screen is very bright and is easy to read outdoors, unlike AMOLED. Not sure why people don’t point this out, but I hated how I could barely read my Note 2 outdoors.
Battery life has been great, nothing to worry about there. The phone does warm up sometimes but it’s not enough to worry about. The camera is disappointing to me sometimes. In bright conditions where a scene has a lot of dynamic range either the sky is completely blown out and the foreground is exposed, or vice versa. It’s annoying and I can’t work around it. I’m a photographer so I get annoyed by things like this, whereas my girlfriend didn’t notice until I pointed it out.
I really, really hope that HTC will release a One tablet that matches the design aesthetic of this phone. I would buy it so fast. But this is the best android phone I’ve used and is a great comeback for the company. Before this I had the Note 2 and iPhone 5. I’ve used the GS 4 briefly and man, the white model just looks ugly with that weird pattern on it.
