Apparently, Fox is using DTecNet as the agent sending the DMCAs. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because DTecNet is one of (if not the sole) company that monitors on behalf of ISPs for the Copyright Alert System.
This is the second such high profile “similar name” issue that DTecNet has flagged. The first was an obviously more edge case situation involving a Guild Wars mod that mistaken for an NBC show.
This couple of false positives does paint a legitimate issue for users who are presented with a copyright strike for downloading legal content.
