The problem here is that by posting an official link to this video on their facebook page, the NIN team made the video mainstream. Millions of newer generation fans got to see something extremely disgusting and shocking. The underground was suddenly put into the spotlight.
This is not the type of video that should be promoted by the band. Its the type of thing that should be hidden away, for hardcore fans to discover just how raw, dangerous, and shocking Trent Reznor once was.
I watched this as a teen years ago, and was to this day shocked by it. It’s the equivalent of watching two girls one cup or faces of death. Not for social media promotion of your new tour.
There is one deterrent to splitting the bill with 4 people… hounding three of your friends for their $3 dollars every single month is a little ridiculous. I can’t really see a scenario where people do this.
If you’re sharing your account with 2 other people, then im going to guess they are extremely casual users that probably wouldn’t be interested in getting their own account if the policy changed.
Its not just about sharing accounts and splitting the bill.
If my family member is watching something on their ipad, I want to be able to watch something on my roku, regardless if the ipad user is on wifi or 4g. Or if I go to my girlfriends house, I want to be able to access my account and watch something, regardless if someone in my household is currently watching something too.
I don’t think you understand how it currently works. Any single account currently allows for 2 simultaneous streams, even from different ip addresses. So two devices can be viewed at the same time, regardless if they are using the same internet connection. You don’t need the 11.99 plan to do that.
This plan gives a higher tier for people who want to go above the two streams, to a max of 4 for people who want to go above that for whatever reason (large family, etc..).
Personally I think they did the right thing. Instead of “cracking down” on their paying customers with more restrictions, they gave you a legit option to expand on the number of streams if you should ever need them for some odd reason.
