Well, that was awkward. Auto-abort right before liftoff.

Once you get used to a TrackPoint, you don’t go back. I was skeptical, and now I can’t stand to use a trackpad.

Lenovo’s new chiclet keyboard is fantastic, I’d take it over my T61 keyboard any day. It’s very, very good.

Finally. Now to replace my broken T61 (Nvidia, I’ll never forgive you for all those dud GPUs back in 2008) :D

As far as I know you’ll need all of the AT&T bands to get 3G on their network, this has been the main problem with using a T-Mo phone on AT&T and vice versa ever since 3G got big. Personally I’d just go with the One X, you get a spectacular 720p SLCD screen, LTE, great battery life, and the same Snapdragon S4 under the hood. I’d take the One X in a heartbeat if I had to choose between them.

It definitely has serious performance increases, from what I’ve used of it. On my 4 year old ThinkPad it absolutely screams. I can get used to the new Start screen, especially considering the under-the-hood improvements.

For 3G on AT&T, it’ll need to support UMTS/HSPA on the 850/1900MHz bands. From what I’m seeing on Wikipedia, the One S is 850/900/2100MHz, so unless you’re fine with EDGE, you’d probably want to just go with the One X.

Samsung delivered on the specs but fell short when it came to design. Design-wise, it looks alright and that’s it. It’s not a phone that looks like a million bucks like the One X or the Lumia 900. I’d actually like for the US carriers to have their way with the design of it a bit like they did with the original SGS, because the Captivate on AT&T was a serious looker.

When was the last time you used WMP to play a DVD? If you can’t remember, then this won’t be a problem for you.

My physics class got to take a tour of their facility in Hawthorne last month. Definitely the coolest field trip I’ve been on in my life. It’s hard to put the size and complexity of a rocket into perspective until you see the machines they use to build these things. Felt like I was almost witnessing history watching them assemble Dragon capsules, considering these things are going to be the first private spacecraft to dock with the freakin’ ISS. I love space.
