Yes, I really love the whole plane section of the book (which is most of the chapters we read this week).

Screwed — but not terribly so! Update: I finished my fiction reorganizing through the letter “E” today — and catalogued each book as I went in Google Docs. I did about 250 of them, and the whole thing took a few hours. Since I only overhaul once every few years, I don’t mind. Of course, I’m also doing a lot of other things as I go: dusting, putting new plastic covers on them, reading them…

I think the funniest stuff in the book is definitely yet to come (I’ve read the next quarter and it got a few chuckles out of me).

Also, also, also! I am reading Excellent Women by Barbara Pym right now and it is HILARIOUS and perfect. I love it SO much I cannot recommend it more highly than I am right now: READ THIS BOOK! :D

I do love Flannery O’Connor. Wise Blood is one of my favorite books. I haven’t read it in years, though!

I finished last week, and I really, really enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. The bit where Neuromancer / Wintermute suggest near the end that they’ve found another AI out in space to communicate with is… intriguing to say the least. I’ll definitely re-read it because I feel like there was so much going on to take in that I wasn’t properly acclimated as I was going until the end. So much of it was foreign, but Gibson’s way of describing things is really original and detailed. I want to read Burning Chrome now, for sure!

Oh, I remember what the problem was now: Delicious Library is a Mac only product. While I DO have a MacBook, I use an Android phone and would definitely want access to the library on my phone :(

Yeah, this looks pretty good! I’m going to give this a shot too. I know we used it years and years ago but this looks like it’s advanced a lot since then. Thanks!

So as I said in my post many of the books I have will need to be entered manually, and that is kind of a big pain on Goodreads and Library Thing, iirc. Also, Library Thing treats a book — Jane Eyre — as one work — not distinct works — for a book I have 20 or so copies of. Does that make sense?

I think I’m going to go with… gasp… a spreadsheet. I’m not kidding! It’s manual, and will be slow starting, but it seems like my best option!

Bloomberg’s administration also won a ruling today from the state’s highest court in Albany allowing car services to pick up passengers who hail them outside of Manhattan. Only yellow cabs had been permitted to pick up fares on the street, while car services were limited to pre-arranged dispatched calls.

It’s actually not been legal to hail car service cars on the street in the outer boroughs — only yellow cabs can pick up passengers that way. Today’s ruling would change that. Of course, everyone already does it!
