Lately it has improved. Sometime ago, I almost stopped visiting Verge because of all non-tech bs.

Good phones sell. People spoke. Verge’s editors failed. End of story.

You won’t read in direct sunlight. Even if it is HTC One or any other phone in the market.

Competition? They are trying to ban you from buying alternatives to their phone. Better alternatives for less money.

Yes, the legal team knows everything about software, hardware, and they work completely separately from ranks of Apple management right? For example, Tim Cook doesn’t spend any time on legal matters, approving things, making decisions, setting strategy, right? It is Apple Legal team that operates completely separate from rest of the company. Looks like you have no idea about how a company works.

I don’t understand this. I would pay a lot of money to have coffee with Steve Jobs, but Tim Cook? He will probably say: “This is an amazing coffee. This coffee is off the charts. This place makes the…best…coffee…in the world.”

Yes, the people you see on Verge Mobile Show are part of a small niche. They even don’t like S4 and some still use iPhones. They should start discussing movies instead of mobile stuff.

This makes me really happy as an Android user. They have focused on suing competitors instead of improving or innovating for years now and they have been steadily losing market share and Android gaining.
Q1 2013 vs. Q1 2012 worldwide smartphone market: Apple lost 4% while Android gained 18%. Samsung gained 3%. Tablet market, same story.
Hopefully, they keep same strategy and in one or two years they will be marginalized to below 10%. Then guess what Android ecosystem will look like compared to Apple ecosystem.

Tweedle: Best Twitter app imo
Flipboard
Reddit News: Awesome Reddit app if you are a redditor
Now Playing, Shuttle, Poweramp: Good music players, choose upto your taste

If you want to understand why S4 is better than One, just look at the placement of on/off button, and start thinking about the whole phone from that perspective. How people see your phone from outside is very different from how usable and ergonomic it is. Some people will value how it looks more of course, but it won’t be majority.
Comment
There is no point of discussing this with individual examples. Nobody can quantify whether Samsung sells due to marketing or due to preferred product. What I am saying is majority of people will find S4 to be more suitable to their needs over HTC One, but all of Verge staff is saying otherwise.

They are not stupid enough to say it won’t sell a lot, of course. But in podcasts and also review, they clearly say it is not as good as HTC One. This guy above (Chris) says he returned it immediately. Would you return a good phone?
People will vote HTC One vs. S4, and in no time, we will see the results of what people think. And how far it is from what Verge writers think. I am not saying S4 will outsell HTC One marginally, but by a very wide margin. And regarding marketing, it is of course very important, but you cant sell an inferior product for the same price just by marketing.

In about 1 month, Verge staff will feel pretty stupid when they see the sales figures of S4. They will see how disconnected they are from people’s opinion. And finally just get it over with and start reviewing latte art and obscure music.

I agree. I also bought international version.
Super-fast, brilliant display, ergonomic, easy to handle, light, good battery life, very good camera, some of the extra software features are actually very nice.
I bought and returned HTC One first. I am happier with S4 mainly due to ergonomy and usability.

Did you see Tim Cook’s comment on why they don’t do a bigger iPhone? Some of them were bs but trade-off about portability and usability are true. I tried both HTC One and S4 for short period of time. And from usability and portability perspective, S4 is much much much better. The bigger the phone, plastic makes more sense. Choice of plastic or another light material is a good discussion but metal is not a good choice imo. So I think Samsung made a good choice with plastic, and S5 will not surely be metal.

Hilarious. You think Apple can come up with flexible display earlier than Samsung? You don’t follow the industry, I would guess.
