Mine has a screen protector on the front and back, but not on the sides or bezel. There’s some minor nicks around the edges where the aluminum color shows through the slate but honestly it doesn’t bother me for some reason (I’m usually picky about these things). I’d say yes it’s easily scratched but it sort of adds character rather than detract from the aesthetics

Lol that’s cause it was pretty terrible. But I remember wanting to get back into large screen android phones after having the iphone 4s for a few months.

Upgrade about every six months. Mostly due to the allure of something shiny and new, and out of boredom.
Smartphones I’ve had (may be out of order) – Motorola q9c, palm pre, evo, palm pixi, blackberry bold 9950, Motorola photon, galaxy s2, iphone 4s, evo 4g LTE, galaxy s3, iphone 5, htc one.
Used the iphone 5 for almost six months and probably would have had no problems using it another six months. We’ll see how long the htc one lasts lol

Using the htc one with nova launcher is actually pretty decent, and at least to my tastes makes me NOT miss stock Android. The parts of sense that show through (menu system, messaging app) are still flatly designed and doesn’t contrast stock androids aesthetic. I remember trying the same thing with my galaxy S3 and the results weren’t as pleasing due to how cartoonish touchwiz was, using a stock launcher with touchwiz just didn’t flow well. The notification tray, messaging app etc all clashed with stock androids holo ui.
If you’re considering the One you may have the same experience – close to stock with a custom launcher.

One>ip5>s4
Disclaimer – Havent used the S4 and these are just my opinions. Obviously the OP asked a complicated question with many variables :-)

I’m not sure if that’s from a newer article but I also recall that they added the disclaimer that the chart represents an s4 on sprints network, while the One is on at&t. Gsm carrier phones typically have linger battery lives due to network connection vs cdma.
Based on the open usage, and my own 1 week experience with the One the answer is definitely NO. You will not last the whole day. Assuming the whole day means ~15 hour day, leaving for work in the morning and coming home. I don’t have much complains about the battery life as I am conditioned to charge throughout the day. But I have hit low battery by later afternoon a few times, with similar usage (two hours of pandora lots of texts etc)

It seems to me that reviews innately have their limits. As others have mentioned already in this thread often your best bet is to spend 30 playing around with the software in the store. It will take just a few minutes in the store to determine how good the rear speaker is.
Seems to me there’s been a lot of criticism about online reviews. By nature a review will contain subjective parts. Even some objective information has to be analyzed subjectively. For example anandtech attempts all this data and scientific analysis which is wonderful – but still the question would remain ‘how does it Feel to use the phone?’
