Actually, Chang. His time on the VergeCast was short, but his influence was great.

Great read, Laura. I’m particularly interested in the statement Keen made in the interview that “You can’t be taught to recognize that the development of your unique personality requires secrecy and mystery….”
I haven’t thought about it enough to know whether I agree with either his premise or his conclusion but they both seem interesting.
The premise is that the development of a unique personality requires secrecy and mystery. Certainly secrecy has been helpful in this matter for many people, although it might not be necessary. On the whole I think I agree with this idea (although I really want to think about it more).
The conclusion that this idea can’t be taught I find less believable. I mean, this interview is, in some sense, teaching me about the value of privacy in developing one’s personality. I do agree that stating that the educational system can/should/will solve the problem is often a cop-out.

A13’ with a retina display!? You would need a lot more than the GPU rumored to be in this thing to power such a monster! I’ll grant that movies would look great, but portability might suffer.

I don’t have the mentality for 4chan, but I find /b/tards to be the greatest nickname ever applied to denizens of an online space. Second place? Vergeins.

This, in combination with his performance on the show, made my day. Please note that this occurred about 10 minutes after the show had ended.

Those are both in the API. I checked:
void lineCatBox (bool pooIsPresent, bool familyMemberIsPresent ) {
if (familyMemberIsPresent) {
makeThemDoIt(coerce,plead,beg);
}
if ( ! familyMemberIsPresent ) {
if (pooIsPresent) {
dumpOutOldPoo(rubberGloves, plasticBag, nosePin);
putDownNewPaper(tryNotToTouchCrustedShit);
pourOutNewGravel(makeSureThatTheBagOpeningIsntTooBig);
}
}

We must be on the same wavelength. I just posted my manifesto on my Twitter non-participation in the Social Media forum. Your reasons seem much more reasonable than mine.

Ditto on cropping the car. I love the cat’s expression though. That is so hard to capture.
