Pretty much exactly what I wanted it to be: a refined and improved version of the 360 one (read: has better DPad). Happy with this.

Glass is a huge step in the right direction and as awesome as it is and sounds if they dont get rid of the ‘jump on a computer and manually tweak your gmail contacts to get it working correctly’ it is doomed to failure.
This is a huge piece of new technology, like the iPhone this has the capacity to change consumer electronics as we know it. The iPhone changed it so much because of how unbelievably easy it is. Glass HAS to be the same. It has to just work, turn it on, log in, and pull all the data in and work. It just wont find mass consumer market if they have to go through a lengthy tutorial or setup phase. It will be doomed to the likes of geeks and nerds. The people who will be buying this no matter what anyway. It’s everybody else that needs convincing.

Watched it last night and I thought it was really very good. I liked the 2009 reboot and I had only ever seen one episode of the original series so I am not a long-term fan of the franchise.
However, it seemed to tick a lot of boxes for me, it was had a lot of action sequences like the reboot but it also touched upon the more exploring side of Star Trek during the opening sequence and less subtly at the end, (which I gather is more similar to the originals than the 2009 reboot).
Again, Im not a huge fan, but I can guess which scene is ‘That Scene’ and I thought it was well done and for a minute I actually thought that was the end of Pine’s Kirk, even though I knew there was absolutely no way that could happen, right up until the second I saw that furry thing I just couldnt think how they could bring him back, which is unlike me
Benedict Cumberbatch was brilliant. Again you know he is going to turn on Kirk et al at some point but he does a very good job of acting up to that, coming across friendly enough for people to be not 110 percent sure of it and is very believable as a Villain when he needed to be
It was a very good summer action movie yes, and huge fans of the original series may not love that but the friends I saw the movie with last night would never have watched the old series and loved the new films. It’s bringing the series to new audiences and isn’t entirely trashing the memories of the old shows/series. It seems like a win-win to me.

I’d have thought in the long term having the ownership of all of that content would be a real positive for Sony trying to catch the likes of Google, Apple and Amazon trying to create a large ecosystem.

Much smarter way of doing it. As much as I loved my PS3 it always struck me as weird that they spent so much designing the Cell chip and taking a huge loss on the console because of it and then it being so hard for developers to harness the full power of it.
Also, heres to hoping the initial cost of the PS4 isnt quite as high.

See I think the opposite. I think in 5-10 years the mobile phone as we know it will be dead, to be replaced by some form of wearable computing. Whether or not that is Google Glass or something else remains to be seen (I personally think it will be).
But if I can find out all of that information I get from my phone at the moment from Glass (or similar) in the future and a touch-based interface for it in my watch, why would I need a phone? For quick games and to watch videos? Im not sure people would buy a phone + another data plan for games and netflix.
A 7-10" tablet however I think is a real possibility to carry around with you and delve into when you really want to access some great content i.e. a book/movie/tv show/article and surely that is where the money is to be made? a big ecosystem and people buying content through you.
I see tablet devices being the go-to device for more involved content, like the TV can be at the moment, yes a TV can be on as passive entertainment but when mine goes on its because I want to specificlly watch something and thats what tablets will be. Personally think that the phone market is the one that will be cannibalised.

LG’s problem is going to be when their flagship phone isn’t a ‘Nexus’ and so nobody cares about it. Without them having the Nexus this year they ship many, many less phones and have a stagnant TV division

I dont think there is any chance that we are alone. There simply must be other life out there. For me, the question is will we find them before they find us?
