Its been a long standing tradition at every Google I/O to hand out nexus phones to every attendee. Google then says “Here you developers, take home these developer phones!” Its the very reason the nexus line exists as it was an evolution of the original dev phone 1 (the htc dream). There is only one type of phone that Google personally posts all the relevant build material and drivers for on the AOSP website and they are all what google considers to be dev phones. To misquote Jerry Hildenbrand of AC " If you can send build data upstream rather than just pull builds down, its a developer phone"

Are you serious? You do know that the nexus phones are developer phones right? They were made for the very specific purpose you just described in the last post. Those people are EXACTLY the target demographic of the nexus phones.

Screen, speaker, battery, and hell even LTE if you wanna get technical have all had long standing and well known fixes and improvements within the developer community. Hell, have you seen the custom calibration that Franco Kernel and PA applied with the latest build? Its gorgeous. And for the record there are but two chips on the cell market right now with faster performance than the N4 and both came out within the last two months, so I have no idea where you think the N4 is laggard in that regard.

If you aren’t willing to tinker and alter the software of your phone to get the best performance out of it then you (and I mean you specifically) aren’t the target demographic for the nexus phone. Maybe you should try a different brand?

Google music lets me pad out its millions of songs with up to 20000 tracks from local shows and dj sets that would never be available on spotify ever. Thats what hooked me anyway

Quite simply people are never happy. Google just murdered the music industry, provided cloud syncing and backup tools to developers so that once all these changes are implemented you will have seamless integration and migration of all your in app and out of app data along with multiplayer support, and (this is something I literally never thought I would see happen) they delivered a flagship phone running stock android with a promise of timely updates. In other words, with the exception of no new android version Google delivered everything anybody asked for. And once google voice gets rolled into hangouts (already confirmed to be a high priority) we will have gotten everything we bitched for and even more. We are in the future man, we should appreciate it man :)

Did you actually watch the video before you decided to be condescending? This woman’s review style is the most informative I have ever seen barring Anandtech. And she doesn’t give an opinion to really line up with. She only really compares the S4 with the S3 and saves comparisons with other phones for separate videos. As a regular commenter on the site you are typically pretty courteous. Lets try to keep the forums that way

Its not so much that he reviewed a preproduction unit that irked me about the One review so much as the fact that he had only had the phone 48 hours by the time it went up. There is no way he adequately tested the phone in that time. He just wanted to be the first review up
