Somehow I don’t think the email client functional changes would be on the priority list for ios. Though I would love to be prove wrong but if the speculation is anything to go by, this release seems to be all about aesthetics rather than core functionality.
It seems good but I need to know if the open in menu will support installed apps or it will be like the Gmail client. Also there is no unified inbox which is kinda deal breaker.
My problem is not email triage. It’s the ability to find the right email at the right time to respond in the right way.
The Gmail client on android is by far the best one I’ve used. It’s slowing the hindsight (may be an android issue) compared to ios clients but it worked perfectly for me (I’ve used android phone for two years before switching).
Responding emails as you see them might work in most circumstances but not all. And in those most circumstances when it would work, I’m any ways at my desk so I have access to the emails on the web.
But when I’m on the move, I need to be on the lookout for the imp emails which need immediate attention (and the nature of my business require me to respond to a lot of such emails instantly). And that is the reason I have configured the emails on my phone in the first place. So you see the point of accessibility itself becomes moot if I can’t get it on time.
Attention to detail. For example, once I’m down to a long list, I don’t have to scroll all the way up to go on top, just click on the top status bar and done. It just works.
Not the biggest reason but this can be described a very important one for those who do a lot and lot and lot of reading on the phone.
