> Every iOS app is hardcoded for 320×480
This is extremely wrong. I’m an iOS dev; making an app that scale with the screen size is very easy. Plenty of devs make apps that scale from iPhone to iPad without a single line of extra code.

Actually, you can put an iPhone app on the iPad simply by flipping a single flag. One of my apps is universal with zero iPad specific code simply because the views are stretchable.
It looks ugly and I can’t charge twice, but it works 100%.

Not really. App scaling on iOS works the same as it does on OS X. Any developer worth his weight would use the layout system and self.view.window.size.height variables.

1. Text messaging-in any form-is what’s replacing voice calling. People want faster, less personal, asynchronous (you don’t have to reply right away) communication. I can’t stand phone calls that aren’t scheduled these days.
2. Data has created an open market for communication apps. Nobody is beholden to the cheap, poorly designed crapware on their phone. Carriers apps have no advantage over Skype or anyone else.
