I would describe it as metrosexual, if you’re even allowed to do so. It has a less masculine tone than iOS 6, but I wouldn’t call it overly feminine. The colors do get a little crazy sometimes. I would appreciate more grey in the design instead of the stark black on white with multiple colors.

Overhaul means a very different thing to both of us, I think. Some of the things like Multitasking were an overhaul, but this is unmistakably a lot of theme/style work. I feel like of all things to require an overhaul, the home-screen is the first in line, yet they made little to no changes in that department, except adding icons that I can judge now and before playing with it as being half-good and half-atrocious.

I agree I haven’t used it and may be having a gut reaction to this, but I can’t help but be disappointed and feel like this isn’t what I wanted when I thought Apple was going to wow me once again.

I’ll agree that looking at some of the apps, they’ve decided on a decent design language. I just think that gray can go a long way to making this a lot more appreciable. I think they wanted to differentiate with Android, but now I can’t help but feel Google was in the right neighborhood on “Flat” design.

I agree it promotes heirarchy, I just think there’s too much of it, they don’t look connected – the outlined icons look of a different style than the colorful gradient filled icons. it’s like doing this:

Photos of People
Application Icons
Sections of Pane

There’s separation there, but something like font weight combined with size and leading works better. With icons, I’m not getting the visual metaphor from this screenshot that you’re supposed to. They look too separate by trying to hint unsuccessfully at what they are.

Thank you both for the comments, they put my mind at ease. I might go to my bank tomorrow to see if I can sign something there to expedite the process. It was a huge shock because I’m normally pretty good at choosing reliable places, and to see almost $1000 just disappear from my account made my heart drop.
