I’d rather Android and Chrome Apps stay separate. They have nothing in common and should be separated. I go to Google Play looking for Android apps, not terrible Chrome apps.

Open your internet browser. Type in http://maps.google.com
Voilla! If you have a modern browser on your phone it should work fine.

UV Copies are terrible. I much prefer iTunes Digital Copies since you can easily remove the DRM (use Requeim) legally and have a copy on your Android device.

Skype is integrated into Android. Since Android is an open platform, apps can integrate into the system through specific APIs.

They didn’t block MS from it, they simply don’t allow MS. It’s not a public API, its a private one.

1) They are forking WebKit and keeping that fork open source,.
2) They were never open in the first place.
3) I agree with you on reader, but you are not entitled to Google Reader.
4) They didn’t want to pay MS for EAS, and have no reason to keep it for normal users as they have replacements.
6) They only used the Java programming language, you can’t copyright a language.
7) WebKit makes up 90%+ of the smartphone browsing market, it’s Microsofts fault that they did not adopt WebKit when they can.

And Microsoft is deliberately trying to block Android and Google from the market. It’s clear Microsoft do not want to play nicely, so why should Google do it in return?
WebKit makes up the vast majority of browsing on smartphones.

I’d reckon Microsoft would be the first one to go when EU fine them in the trillions.

The BBC only cares about the market share in the UK. Where WP is at 2.5% (depends on source). It’s not even third, Blackberry is ahead by a large margin.

Thanks for the correction. Yes its not truly a standard, but a de facto one. Most smartphones, smart TVs, computers etc support it.

Well iPlayer works on any mobile device that supports HTTP Media Streaming. So any device which supports the standard can play content. Windows Phone lacks the support and as a consequence, iPlayer did not work.
Although I’m glad they did update the Android App. I’d rather have no app at all than a terrible one.
The BBC can’t go round supporting every minority platform, it’s just impossible. They already have two dozen clients already. WP makes up a fraction of the UK market, so was not a priority for the BBC as having no WP iPlayer client would only a small amount of people.
