Yeah me too. Since the update last week it’s showing me more stories I might be interested in, books I may want to read, movies and TV shows I might like too. Overall, almost everything about it is working better than before. The only thing that still seems kind of hit or miss is the package tracking.

As long as it only works on Windows Phone, Xbox, and Windows PC’s it fails compared to Spotify or Google Music.

Actually I think “non-techies” (i.e the majority of people) are more likely to want a phone with an sd slot. They equate sd cards with saving pictures. Your granny doesn’t know about cloud storage for saving pics of the grandkids. But she has an sd card full of them already and she just wants to get them onto her new phone. So an sd slot is necessary for her.

Which is like…. everybody.

What “major changes” do they really need to make? It seems like people want change for the sake of change nowadays. I can’t really think of any major changes they need to make besides app level, services and developmental improvements.

And the great thing about what Google is doing is that by adding API’s and putting features in Play Settings and moving some system apps to the Play Store they’re basically going around OEM’s and carriers with updates. It’s really like everyone running Froyo up to Jellybean got a new version of Android without all the begging for an OTA update. That’s a great strategy, if you ask me.

Probably the only disappointments for me are that the new Maps isn’t ready yet and they didn’t update Gmail yet. Loving everything else they announced though.

The Nexus warriors are just MAD lmao. This announcements today have been great. They added features and improved apps and services that ALL Android users can benefit from, not just Nexus users. People need to realize that, based on numbers, Nexus users are a small part of the Android user base. The number of iPhone and Galaxy users at the conference attest to that.

No. It was perfect. They focused on improving services that can run on multiple android versions and not just a couple devices that aren’t really used by many people. The Nexus warriors are MAD LMAO

This would be great. I just love Pocket Casts too much to use another app for podcasts though.

A Spotify +Pandora service would be boss! I want to listen to albums sometimes but other times I just want to pick a song and be surprised by what’s playing next. If they can do this from one app I’d probably switch from Spotify and Pandora. Make it cheaper than Spotify and I’d definitely switch.

I was about to say “Ads? I never hear any ads.” That sounds more like Pandora to me.

I actually love the instant mixes. I listen to them all the time. I just wish I knew exactly how they pick which songs to base the mixes off of.

If they just put all the G-apps in the Play Store OEM’s won’t have to promote them. Even though I have a phone running Jellybean and an N7 I’ll be so glad if the app updates and services Google introduces tomorrow work with devices running jellybean all the way down to gingerbread. No more of this “only working with the latest version” nonsense.

I think focusing more on apps and services is actually a better strategy. Maybe Google is realizing that a Nexus phone will probably never sell as well as the latest Samsung or carrier flagship devices. So wouldn’t their resources be better spent focusing on making great apps and services that run on a wide variety of devices instead of focusing on the Nexus line and pushing out OS updates? What good is it doing to focus a lot of resources on pushing out updates that only work on a device that only tech bloggers (exaggeration) use? Maybe the fact that Sundar Pichai was shown using an S4 is a sign that Google is focusing more on the entire range of Android devices and not just Nexus-only features.

No. Go to the corner right now for spouting that insanity.

I said the same thing a couple years ago when I watched an I/O video on YouTube and the Googlers were using Macs instead of Chromebooks. People in the comments said I was stupid for thinking google workers should only google – made products. They should use what works best for them. I guess that applies in this situation too.

He could be playing the game. But I think people are underestimating the multimedia and accessory options you have with Samsung devices. Maybe he has a Samsung tv or has a lot of friends with Samsung devices. Compared to Samsung devices the Nexus devices are weak when it comes to accessories and connectivity support.

Who says that’s his only phone? They’ve probably got N4’s laying around the Google campus like those bikes and electric cars for anyone to pick up and use. I mean, it is a bargain bin device, selling for $200 brand new.

Umm the S4 has 4.2.2 and the HTC One has 4.1.2. Which ONE is behind again?

I don’t know about this. Personally, I only received one defective phone out of all that I’ve bought. I find these posts where one person gets multiple defective phones kind of hard to believe. Or maybe the OP has extremely bad luck.

Also, with the height of the One the power button placement on the top is just poor design.

If I remember that article correctly Duarte showed him pictures on HIS Nexus. He told Topolsky that they were taken with the phone but they could’ve been touched up, who knows. The Verge didn’t start saying the GNex took bad pictures until they got their own review units and took their own pictures.

I use 5
1 (left Social media) Falcon pro widget, G+, instagram and facebook icons
2 (left Multimedia) music and podcast widgets, games, kindle app, and other multimedia icons
3 (middle Home) a clock widget and the main apps like gmail, dialer, messaging, Google drive, maps
4 (right News) Eye in the sky weather widget, newsreader app icons like the Verge and Feedly
5(right Fav apps) the icons of any other apps I use often like Foursquare, evernote, my banking app,
The dock at the bottom has minimalistic text icons that take me to each screen. A swipe up on each icon opens the main app on each screen, except for the home and favorite apps icons. A spree on the home icon takes me to Google Now and a swipe on the favorite app icon opens the app drawer, though I rarely have to go to the app drawer.

The battery life is usually worse on Nexus devices. Skinned devices seem to have more power saving tweaks built in.
