This doesn’t seem like big deal, but I prefer the old icon. I’m interested to see if this is a way for OEM’s to “customize,” or at least create brand recognition/loyalty without changing the OS or if this will be just a Nokia thing. What is a little concerning is where the WP brand comes in. Are they trying to down play it? I personally think that having a section within the marketplace was better than this. I feel like it make things appear/feel confusing. The Windows button doesn’t match the marketplace logo now.

So if I got 5 channels/apps for $20, I’d be paying the same as I would to a cable company but i would get fewer options? I get wanting a le carte system, but as the NYT article says, we get a discount from channels because of the bundles. For example, I get NBC for $1 because millions of people also pay $1. Maybe $20 is an exaggeration, but I imagine it would be a lot more than a couple of bucks per channel. Stuff that less popular might cost even more. Sport might be cheap, but if I want to watch something from a smaller network, such as Sci-Fi, mtv, or hgtv, it would cost more than something from a big network, such as NBC, ABC, or FOX.
Besides, unless we start paying per show, we’ll still have commercials, networks such as ABC and NBC sell that ad space to pay for the shows. What I really want is to have simple, easy to use way to watch all of the shows I want when I have time. Currently, all the shows I watch are not there or I have to use a 3rd party system.
