Unfortunately it’s still a hell of a lot easier to find a dock connector than a micro usb cord here (New Zealand). They’ve only been widely available here for about the last year.
At one stage, about 6 months after the EU agreement to standardise on micro USB for charging… in walking between 3 cellphone stores and 2 electronics stores near my office, I was only able to find one place selling a micro usb cable – it was blackberry branded and the store wanted NZ$38 for it. I let my phone run flat that day.
“Let’s just say that I won’t complain if the camera shutter key makes a triumphant return.”
I currently have a Sony Xperia S, and an HTC HD7 – both have shutter keys, so it’s not unheard of. In-fact – don’t all Windows phones have this?
