Marginally better? I seem to recall a certain console having a failure rate of 54% up until they released the Slim in 2012. I have never heard of a consumer electronic product that would fail you more then half the time. So no I wouldn’t call that marginally better.

“-you can share you game with 10 of your friends and you can play all at the same time (for me that’s even better than lending a game to someone)”
As I said above if you think their is no catch to this you must be stupid. That is worst then simply having one game floating about. Instead you have 11 people playing a game for free? Makes zero sense from a business standpoint. More then likely you will have time limit for how long they can play. Cause if its just let us all play I can buy a game and let ten of my boys play it then sell the damn thing since the only purpose all of us buying it would serve is multiplayer and that not enough to sway.

I’m tired of the dumbass argument Xbox fanboys throw out in stating that the DRM and other policies are cool because we are allowed to let 10 other people play our game. If you don’t think there is more to it then that you are a moron. They specifically want to kill used games to make as much money as possible. In what world is letting 10 people play off one license a better business model then simply letting people borrow the game or buying used? In the used/borrowed/rented scenario you only have 1 disc per person to worry about in lost revenue. In this “game sharing policy” you have 11 people and 11 lost chances of revenue to worry about per purchased game. Now multiply that by 3 million. My guess is there is a time limit on allowed play or you can only game up to a certain point. Either way they’re not giving the full story.

If it comes out on Steam which it likely will it can be played on Linux and OSX. So still not an exclusive.

No it means people still like it. COD has been making the same game for the past 6 or so years. One of the highest selling game series of all time. Nintendo has been making Mario games since before I was born. One of the highest selling game series of all time. There are alternatives to both of these games yet no one buys them. Cause different does not mean better. Microsoft should know that by now based off the reaction they got from W8.

“Have you read the articles about gaming (before Polygon existed) where the authors and then the readers in the comments decried that state of gaming, declaring how boring and repetitive it had become?”

If its boring an repetitive why do each console provider sell tens of millions of consoles every generation and gaming a billion dollar industry?

“-That plays AAA games”-PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, Gamecube, Wii, Wii U, Xbox, Xbox 360, SNES, the Dreamcast, and my computer all does this. Not a point
“-That provides many sources of online entertainment sources”- So does every console this generation currently. Not a point.
“-Is also a fantasy gamers dream”-Subjective. Not a point
“-Provides Blu-Ray”-The PS3, PS4, and my computer does as well. Not a point
“-Has the potential for even more dimensions of gaming immersion with Kinect 2.0”-WP8 has the potential for a lot as well. Potential and execution are 2 different things. Until we actually see potential fulfilled its irrelevant. We don’t buy shit off potential. Not a point.
“-Enables futuristic methods of interacting with content via Kinect and it’s voice and motion capabilities.”- See above.

Say what you will Microsoft but you already fucked up when it comes to me. And the $500 for shit I don’t want nor need is just one more nail in the coffin. No game rentals. 24hr checks. Kinect built in. Inferior specs. No borrowing. Why exactly would I even consider paying for what is essentially an inferior PC gaming experience? I already have a gaming PC and none of the games shown thus far even peaked my interest except DR3. So what am I getting of benefit to me? TV integration? Fuck out of here.

I’m tired of these movies where they always try to emo the character so we can “relate” to him more. Superman is not Emo. He sees his powers as a gift that is to be used to protect Earth. Not every character has to be Batman. The problem with these movies and why they all suck. Stop trying to shoehorn every character into the brooding dark type. It doesn’t work for everyone. And stop with all the talk and terrible villains. General Zodd is one of the worst out of the lot. Superman has such a large back catalog of villains he’s fought there should be absolutely no trouble finding one to make an action packed movie not some thought provoking shit. Characters like Doomsday, Darkseid, Brainiac, Black Adam, etc etc. All credible threats to him and with interesting back stories to boot.

Clearly you’re not a very good reader. I said since the Blockbuster days. That since means from then on. Thus I didn’t say it is a viable business model in 2013. Way to be a smart ass though even though you failed. Besides that Gamefly is the main video game rental service that people use and is a very successful in fact number 1 service right now. So what are you trying to say exactly?

Reading these comments I can see where the astroturfing allegations come from. Why exactly are people trying to justify this phone home bullshit?
1. Why can’t I rent games? That has been a legitimate business model since the Blockbuster days. Not everyone buys games on faith, a tailor made demo a la Aliens: Colonial Marines, and some guys on the internet’s approval.
2. Are the servers going to be online forever? This is a legitimate concern for me because I would like to play the games I bought years from now and if this phone home shit never gets patched out how exactly am I going to do that? The apologists on here are saying “oh its not like you’re going to have the game 10 or 20 years from now cause it would have broken or lost it dur” My father bought the NES in 1989 the year I was born and that was the first console I played when I turned 4. Fast forward 19 years and its still works and I still have all the games. All 72 of them. Same for the SNES, the PS1, the PS2, Gameboy color, and all my floppies that I played Duke Nukem and such on. I still have them because I take care of my shit. Not hard when it just sits there.
3. Why can’t I borrow games? That’s just a cheaper form of renting to decide whether or not I will but it or not. It was because of borrowing and renting that amassed a vast catalog of games with no trash in it.
These are my main concerns and why I will not be buying an Xbox One. I refuse to support business models like this. If Sony does the same thing I will simply buy a Wii U and PC Game. Either way MS lost money from me this time around.

They lost me with the no renting part. Games cost too much now for me to buy strictly on faith, a tailor made demo, and some guy who reviewed it’s word. They just single-handedly killed Gamefly with this move.

Good. Find them, trial them, and if guilty send them to the max pens. They don’t take kindly to pedos there. There really should be bigger charges for sexually assaulting children. A kid on the street corner can get a decade and a half for selling crack but a pedo can get out in 5 with good behavior.

Not really a good comparison with Steam. Steam’s business model and tge nature of PC gaming allows for deep sales the likes of which you would never see on consoles. Im talking anywhere drom 40-80% off sales for a game released only a few months ago with the exception of greedy corps like EA and Activision games.

That’s only for multiplatform games though and that’s due to them developing first on the Xbox then porting over haphazardly due to the complexity of the PS3 system itself. Now that they are both using similar types of hardware that won’t be an issue anymore.

I understand both sides of the argument but people really need to stop citing Steam as a source that this will work. The ratio of PC Gamers to Console Gamers is extremely lopsided and the vast majority of PC gamers understand this as the business model due to PC gaming while typical console gamers don’t. You can’t cite iTunes or Google Play as a source really since all music purchased from their is DRM free and can be transferred to disc and later to other people’s libraries. The only part about that not true are the movies, apps, and video games.

Because its implementing a lot of policies people don’t like. Its cool though since it made my decision for the PS4, if they don’t fuck it up, and Wii U a lot more simple. Save the few exclusives that’s not worth supporting the bullshit, there is no real reason for me to own an Xbox One. Pity, because every gen I prefer to own all of the consoles. Oh well. More money in my pocket.

Bloomberg the man? The same man who gave NYPD the legal right to hymn us minorities up against the wall and pat us down in front of everyone for no reason at all? And if we resist this afront to the Constitution we are then beaten, tased, shot, or all three. No, he is not the man.

The movies have been trash lately because they put him against trash villains and instead try to explore his feeling. Despite popular belief Superman is not indestructible and can be hurt. Its just they never put him against the villains that can actually kill him. A Superman vs Doomsday movie would be great because it was probably the first time he was ever hurt like that and questioned his ability to win. That could make for an interesting explkration into his character while keeping the action high. That or Darkseid, Brainiac, or a few others.
