Deva, since you’ve been here as long as I have, you may remember that the MS forum was pretty much a ghost town; it almost fell off the Forums dropdown list because it was so unpopular. With the Lumia, Windows 8, “conspiracy stories,” and Tom Warren’s group coming over from WinRumors, it became revitalized. So, while I appreciate you preferring that we harken back to a lighter time without posts such as mine, I think that you may be mis-remembering those days.
I think that there’s something else that you may be missing in the end equation: those who frequent The Verge typically aren’t new users. They are Windows, Android, and Apple power-users who are passionate in their views. With Windows userbase psychographics, you won’t see many posts on App discovery or App aesthetics since the OS is frequently viewed more as a straight productivity platform than one which caters to all use scenarios. (If you’re interested in an interesting breakdown of the difference between users, you may want to see: http://blog.hunch.com/?p=45344).
If you’d like the forums to change, make posts that you’d like to see, and build the engagement that you’re interested in seeing. Me? I’m posting here on this topic because it’s something that I’m genuinely interested in, and I wanted other users’ feedback.
Regardless, thanks for the response!
