This is my first thought as well. Your fingerprints are taken when you’re booked in to jail and they are a crude unique identifier. However, if the government takes your DNA then it provides information well beyond just who you are. It provides your entire genetic code and we can’t trust the government to keep the information safe OR not share it with other agencies such as this disaster of a new health care system. There are a lot of unintended (or intended) consequences of having access to DNA vs. a fingerprint.
