ty.underwood…you are part of a dwindling minority. The average consumer never opens their laptop to tinker with it. Its not worth the extra production costs to make things swappable.

A stylish laptop with a lot of horsepower is something that I want and am willing to pay for. Thinkpads and ToughBooks? Ugly as hell. Yes looking, back bang for the buck with those two laptops wasn’t worth it. I paid $1100 for my second HP. I wish I could go back in time and tell myself to suck it up and shell out an extra $500 for a 15in mac. I would have not regretted it.

For college students taking notes in lectures all day, writing papers, and facebook, no. Performance does not matter.

Gosh. I don’t get why people are bashing The Verge for recommending the Macbook Air. In terms of build quality, PCs SUCK.
And believe it or not, I am a Windows guy, and always will be. But shit, my HP 1030us, and HP dv6-1000-cto laptops that I have purchased had good specs, and it came at a good price, but Christ, the first had a terrible trackpad that would sometimes stop working coming out of sleep mode, and had horrible overheating problems. The other one has real shitty battery life, its clunky, came with glitchy switchable graphics drivers that still haven’t been fixed. The cable for the LCD panel has fallen out twice and I’ve had to open the damn thing up to plug it back in. But they were cheap! So what…
WHO CARES that it doesn’t have expandable memory. How often are you actually going to upgrade the memory these days? 4 is fine. 8 is nice. If your computer is running slow its time for nuke or a new one.
I’m happy that the Razer had the balls to go the premium route with its gaming laptops. Of course everyone is going to complain that they are expensive. But its the price you pay for premium. And that is something that non short-term minded people look for.

Please enlighten me…why are these games that are just the same rehash of a previous game so appealing? Mario Cart 8? Jesus…

Your forgetting that every premium laptop and ultra book LOOKS like a macbook pro/air 99% of the time. Its completely reasonable to suggest buying the real thing instead of going with a knock off.
You can’t deny the build quality of a mac. I’m a windows guy and I’m seriously considering buying a mac and nuking it for windows. I’m on the Verge’s side. They’re doing it right.

I’m considering this laptop for heavy desktop work more then gaming. So I will take a 1080p screen over that. If I was really having problems with gaming I would just turn down the detail. This laptop is so small and light the fact that I could run a decent game would be enough for me.
