Bush didn’t shut down every program to pay off debt, Obama didn’t, and if Romey wins he won’t either.
The reality is that government IT moves at a snails pace so by starting this initiative now it will help million of people who are moving to smart phones and tablets as their main computing devices. This is especially true for the lower-class who may only be able to afford pay-as-you-go data plans on low-end phones.
China is probably going to take over regardless of the debt situation, they’ve got way more man-power, literally.
On a side note, I support government agencies moving toward responsive web designs instead of the laziness of writing mobile apps for only 2 platforms and then calling it a day…

I find the reviews on Amazon to be pretty useful on aggregate. And that’s after I filter out reviews that don’t back up their opinions with intelligent explanation. That’s the key. It’s just like filtering out troll comments on the Verge and other similar sites.

Different folks, different use cases. I had the 3rd gen Kindle for several months before I got a Kindle Fire. The Fire is good for reading in low light situations like on a plane and evening road trips. And since Kindle books sync across devices I never have to worry about losing my place when I switch back to e-ink.
The fire is also better than the e-ink kindle for my technical reference books I use for work (which include generous amounts of code snippets, pictures, and diagrams) And some of those books are in PDF format. Shouldn’t have to tell how much of a pain it is to read most PDFs on a 3rd gen Kindle…

First of all LG made mediocre phones for WP and blamed the OS for poor sales. Meanwhile you don’t see Samsung or HTC complaining. Why? Because those companies didn’t phone it in (no pun intended).
On the Android side how does LG not get crushed by Samsung, HTC, Moto/Google, and lose the little bit of profit they are making ? Maybe if they do a 180% in design and R&D, but once again that’s not an OS problem.
Also how is the Microsoft / Nokia relationship different from the Google / Motorola Mobility relationship? Is Motorala’s favorite child status going to scare off Android OEMs?

Actually this is not limited to MS fanboys. Apple, Google, Company X, etc. fanboys think their companies operate in a vacuum and aren’t influences by each other’s work.
