I agree.
and people just thought about franchise game (like halo, fifa or whatever COD is now)
but there is truly classical games which are their own specific thing.
For example Mass Effect 1 to 3: it’s a story.
Day of the Tentacle, old but hilarious and all cartoony
Sonic Adventure 1 and 2. pretty still very weird game even now.
Shenmue, no one did a “new shenmue”.
Ecco the dolphin
thousands of japanese rPG games (there are some I keep like old books, I did played again some, thanks to emulators, but a snes is way simpler than a ps3)
The Longuest Journey. You can give me hundreds of “adventure game with a girl in an alternative world”, I would still languish for that game, characters and story.
There is a reason why a game like Monkey Island 2 was remade for ipad, why “Another World” was published again. It may be easy to sell again old stuff, but there is also a demand for that.
It would be nice if games could be preserved for decades and still alive on newer hardware. For you, Halo is a toy, but I don’t speak about Halo, I think about Half Life, Portal and The Cave.

but seriously, people have points about the technicals details.
and it’s not like the xbox one is crappy, it has hdmi input, interesting feature and a really impressive kinect. it’s not uninteresting.

hu, why you need to be so adamant to remind us of who you are ? and what it means to your use of flickr ?
the point Verge is doing is simple and true : Flickr is now redesigned with a modern design, new tools and prices which allows it to compete now with similar services from google or facebook.
Also 500px by the way.
of course not, Flickr is not all the social services from youtube, google+, gmail and whatever. And it’s a good thing.
Yahoo itself is clearly working on coherent and efficient services to offer against Google/Facebook. it’s beyond flickr.
-
it is an aggressive push :
- new apps
- new design
- new services
- new price
- new huge storage
all in one push.

I don’t care about theater.
it’s expensive, it’s annoying, it’s useless. The screen is bigger yes, but only imax is really spectacular and beat everything I could do at home.
no I don’t need a “big screen” because I’m nearer.
but imax is a totally different concept.
-
anyway, nice debate, but I don’t care at all for theater.

Life is simple and magic for you, hey ? Heck, you are the United States of America so you have dominion upon the whole world. Who cares for frontiers ? Just send drones and kill the bad guys everywhere. Don’t forget to clean the children and families the drones killed too in “oups mistakes”.
Ho yes, it did wonders to prevent Boston. Let me guess : the answer is more drones and more arbitrary killing in foreign countries.
What you do is just excuses to push us army on foreign territory for your interest, your commercial needs. Have the decency to assume that and we will all stay in awe how beautiful your movies are.
You will never understand the anger.

it’s here common practice for Microsoft (destroying business for others)
and Google is by no way forced to create apps for every platform. Yes Google can “sabotage” an other platform by refusing to port itself its own services if google wants !
others youtube apps allowing to see ad-payed video without ads are not authorized. Google blocked some of them and will continue to do so.

sure, people waiting a new Tron 2.0 or Alive 2007 / Human After All will be disappointed
but people who dreamed with Discovery, in the night, grooving quietly, dancing slowly, will find a lot to love. The sound is good, some excellent bass, excellent production. That album is not a rehash of previous ones.
And I’m sure crazy remix will be done to satisfy your thirst for hardcore electro.

For me, which I loved “Discovery” with passion, I’m truly impressed by “Touch”, surprising and touching ( :) ). Now, at the album version of “Get Lucky”.
Daft Punk is not only homework or Live 2007 (which I love too) with hard core techno, it’s also groove and disco.

I think, but I can be mistaken because I’m not a citizen from the US, his point is that device, that machine, is a breakthrough giving to people a lot of powers, so maybe it needs a new name to show to all people (and politics) there are NEW possibilities thanks to it.
“I think that we need to have a new conversation about re-centering American politics and government around the kind of breakthroughs that this makes possible”
is the point. The naming stuff is just a joke to make people talk.

but I share the same feeling you describe. In doing the game so casual, okay I got to have a lot of stuff easily, but it did hurt the game, community and finally customers.

no, forget the religious argument…it’s tiresome.
It’s because Apple put a LOT of tools in Xcode and cocoa framework to do efficient apps quickly.
It’s that good. Of course developers tend to prefer that then java, mfc or .net.
