Well it depends. I’m a DJ myself and I don’t use any laptops or displays whatsoever. Every Club has a sound system, CDJS/Turntables, and Mixer so in my case all I need to bring are my headphones and music media (CDS/Vinyls/USB).
If you’re referring to a simple house party, It’s still risky bringing your ipad or macbook to a party imo.
The “as long as I dance” reason is one way to look at it. There is a certain skill when DJing with your senses, rather than relying on visual aid from a display. Unfortunately this skill is not being appreciated enough, that’s why there’s all this hate
