i don’t know. i am pretty much over the new x. it looks really bad, the black red x said the camera was not that good, and i think moto will make a nexus that is finally worth owning. i just saw that there was confirmation of the name and thought it would be good to bring back up the old post since the announcement is this week.
k. its only five minutes into the thing. i tried a quick search and didnt find anything.
black red x. used to work for verizon.
the guys over at droid life were talking about it on their podcast this week. the twitter handle or whatever was something red x (?). read: paraphrasing and not 100%…..they said they guy used to work for moto and was always leaking accurate leaks. then he went away for a while and this was the first time in i guess a couple of years that he said anything. the quote was something along the lines of "i just played with the new moto, camera not good."
it is only ten or twenty minutes into the podcast.
it is a moto device. for future reference, you really do not have to ask that question.
i did the beta thing. it sucked. nothing but issues. my favortie was getting sent to a foreign site at least once a day.
you do know that it takes a good ten seconds to take a pic with the 4 right? and that is on ios6. it takes a good two extra seconds on ios7. it is abysmally slow, and it takes a pretty terrible pic.
it looks aweful. and now we have rumors floating around from an old tipster that says the camera sucks on this one as well.
not that it matters… but ice cream sandwich did not exactly roll off the tongue.
isnt this thing supposed to be a layered design? thus the sucker. <—pun intended.
absolutely. thanks to an open source os… developers and oems get to put their own ideas within the os. there are countless features in android that are now part of the os thanks to this.
and as a consumer… i am thankful that i do not have to be hindered by an abc/123 button anytime i need to switch. having things closed down to where the only thing you can do is what the oem wants you to do is not something i am willing to support with my money.
i read somewhere that it was now in google’s terms with android oems that they must support any device for eightteen months. someone chime in here if they know differently.
with that said… you really only have a fifteen month period with non nexis devices. i say that because it usually takes them three months to deliver an update. i would also wait to buy a phone that comes with android l in the box. that way you will be sure to get 5.0, 5.1, 5.2 and most likely 5.3. which is much better than 4.3, 4.4, 5.0, and hopefully an upgrade to 5.1. read: this is what to expect with the spring 2014 flagships. 5.1 will be released next summer… which will be 15 or 16 months.
thanks for the write-up. i too feel the exact same way about swiftkey. it takes the near perfect experience on the moto x and turns it into an annoying lag fest. i have already installed this thing on my phone and will be giving it a shot for the next month. edit: stuck at 93%. i hate it when the play store does this.
no reason to wait. the guy said moto would be releasing their entire line-up (read: moto x,g,e,droids,360,etc) at google i/o.
i download and play 2gb movies. n7 2012 to chromecast. i never have any issues. i just get the 1080 (uploaded by YIFY) versions and run with it. as far as playing ripped bluerays and such.. i really don’t know. it will also play hd nextflix without a hitch. which are better quality than the movies i play.
if you would like to give me an example of a torrent you would normally download and play… i would be happy to try it out and tell you how well the cromecast performed.
i also have mkv player installed for the codecs.
the sound thing sometimes happens to me on my n7 2012. i don’t know why it does it. sometimes the volume is really low also. i have found that a reboot usually fixes the issue. i use allcast too. so ymmv.
i am also. ten months in so far.
google needs to put some thought into a decent graphics app for this thing. i would spend five hundred on a nicer pixel if i didn’t have to flip flop between it and a windows laptop.
thx good to know.
i don’t think it is the most consistent at all. the android experience should be more than a maxed out kernel.
i quickly scanned. did not see anyone mentioning it.
you do know that moto will replace the first break for free. the only problem is you will get a refurb in its place. and you are not guaranteed to get your colors back from the looks of it, and the screen might be scratched up. better than nothing i guess. they say you will get same colors, but peeps on support forums say otherwise.
i just started an rma on monday for my camera. on tuesday i got email giving me my rma number and a ‘should ship in four days’. trackable on the moto site. no credit card needed, although i paid 85 bucks for motocare ten months ago. that might be why i get it without cc. they send phone, i ship back mine within five days. giving me time to switch out the battery if the guy before me overheated his phone all of the time.
that is a pretty awesome piece of hardware isn’t it.
i need fm. if my phone had it, i might consider something like that.
i think that as long as the home button (hardware) is on opposite sides from the back button (software), the ipad will never be as good as android. if i were an app whore i would probably kill for the ipad. but i am not. i use a tablet for nothing more than surfing and youtube. along with an e-liquid calc.
there is also something to be said about faster animations, keyboards that can long press a digit etc. ios has so many downfalls that i cannot possibly see it as ‘the best’.
